RAWALPINDI: A clash between two rival groups in Rawalpindi on Saturday killed one minor boy and left 15 others, including seven women, seriously wounded, police said.
Pathohar Town SP Sikandar Hayat said that the fighting took place between two groups over a property dispute.
He said that a minor boy identified as Nadeem was caught in the crossfire. He was shifted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Similarly, 15 more people, including women, commuters and passers-by, were injured in the clash. They were shifted to different hospitals. Trend Pk
India Evading Dialogue: FM Qureshi
KARACHI, Pakistan News: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called for healthy ties between India and Pakistan, adding that Indian leaders were evading dialogue resumption for being confused.
Talking to media in Karachi, the FM urged India to behave and think responsibly. He maintained that Indian Army Chief’s statement had nothing to do with the state policy of neighbouring country, calling upon the government of India to take notice in this regard.
Qureshi noted that US Congress used to point finger at Pakistan but now it talked of assistance due to the successful strategy against war on terror. The FM added that the government was seriously working to bring back Dr Afia Siddqui.

Cabinet’s Defence Committee Meeting Held
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: A meeting of defence committee of cabinet is underway in Prime Minister House here. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is chairing the meeting discussing.
Federal ministers for defence, defence production, finance, interior affairs, information and minister of state, members of committee Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed, Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani and heads of three armed forces are taking part in the meeting.
According to sources, the participants of the meeting briefed about challenges country is facing regarding defence and security issues. The meeting is also discussing war against terror and other related issues.

Ashura Procession Blast Was Not a Suicide Attack: Karachi
Karachi: Ashura procession blast was not a suicide attack, Investigative committee of the Karachi police has confirmed that Ashura bomb blast in the city was not a suicide blast while the bomb was planted in a box of sacred papers.
Investigation of the committee also confirmed the report of that the bomb was planted in a box of sacred papers. It was shown in a footage broadcasted on two days ago that explosive material was planted in a box which was triggered by a remote control device.
AIG Bomb Disposal Unit Shafqat Malik said that nature of the blast occurred in Karachi Ashura procession was different from all the previous attacks in the country’s history. He told that double tracking system was used in the blast: one GSM and other time device.

NWFP Assembly Backs President Zardari
QUETTA, Pakistan News: NWFP Assembly on Tuesday expressed confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari, saying he was constitutionally elected president of Pakistan and symbol of federation.
The resolution jointly moved by Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour and senior parliamentarian Abdul Akbar Khan was passed with majority. The assembly resumed proceedings after a break of two-day, with Speaker Kiramatullah Khan in the chair.
Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour of ANP and senior parliamentarian of PPP Abdul Akbar Khan said that all state institutions should work in their jurisdiction and should respect each other.
They said President Asif Ali Zardari was symbol of federation. He was elected with majority votes from parliament and four provincial assemblies.
The senior parliamentarians said the role of President Asif Ali Zardari in the announcement of an unanimous National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, resolution of the long withstanding dispute of the net-profit on hydropower generation, resettlement of the displaced people of Malakand, enforcement of Nizam-e-Adl Regulation in Malakand Division was admirable.
The chair presented the resolution for vote. All 76 members supported the move and only members including Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao (PPP-Sherpao), Nighat Orakzai, Zahir Shah (PML-Q) and Shazia Aurangzeb of PML-N opposed the resolution.
Opposition comprising of JUI-F and other political parties abstained from the proceedings of the house.
