Perfect weather in Mohali after thunderstorm
MOHALI: Ahead of the crucial Pakistan-India semifinal, the skies cleared up on Wednesday morning after a thunderstorm followed by light rain in Mohali.
Met officials said the skies would remain clear for most of the day. They added, however, that there was possibility of light showers towards the evening.
The high-voltage semifinal clash between India and Pakistan starts at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium at 2.30 p.m. It will be a day-night encounter.
In Entertainment acquires Hindi remake rights of Gautham Menon’s film
IN Entertainment (India) Limited (INE), the Hinduja Group initiative for Content Business, has acquired Hindi remake rights of Tamil film VINNAITHANDI VARUVAAYAA. Helmed by director Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film, co-produced by Gautham Menon and S. Elred Kumar, released worldwide in February 2010 and is still running successfully. A.R. Rahman has composed the music of the film.
The film was also made in Telugu as YE MAYA CHESAVE and continues to run successfully in Andhra Pradesh. Simbu and Trisha have enacted the lead roles in Tamil, while Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth have enacted the lead roles in Telugu version.
The Hindi remake of the film will be directed by Gautham Menon and will have music by A.R. Rahman. The Hindi remake will be co-produced by INE and Photon Kathaas. The producers of the Tamil version, Gautham Menon and S. Elred Kumar, will be co-producers on the Hindi remake. The lead cast for the Hindi remake is still to be finalized.
Gautham’s associate, Satish Fenn, who has earlier worked on Mani Ratnam’s GURU and RAAVAN, will be associated in the production of the Hindi remake.
VINNAITHANDI VARUVAAYAA means ‘Will you Cross the Skies for Me.’ The film, a romantic-musical, is about a young aspirational film-maker, who falls head over heels in love with his neighbour, a mathematics graduate. Against all odds, he must convince the girl to marry him and also convince his parents along with pursuing his dreams of becoming a film-maker.

Pokhran, Rajasthan ,Feb. 28: The Indian Air Force put up a spectacular performance of bombing mock enemy targets, including mock terrorist camps, at the Vayu Shakti exercise in the deserts of Pokhran both before dusk and in the moonlight on Sunday. Defence minister A.K. Antony said the exercise was not aimed at Pakistan as such, but reiterated India’s main concern that Pakistan was yet to dismantle the terror camps operating on its soil.
He also noted that this had been conveyed to Pakistan foreign secretary Salman Bashir during last week’s talks in New Delhi, saying that India had not expected any “miracle” from these talks.
In response to another question, on whether he was unhappy over the modest increase in this year’s defence budget allocations, Mr Antony said the finance minister had a very difficult task to perform this year and that he had performed his duties well.
Mr Antony also declared that the armed forces would protect every inch of Indian territory. When asked whether Saudi Arabia could play the role of an interlocutor between India and Pakistan, Mr Antony replied that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was currently in Saudi Arabia and that it was not proper for a Cabinet minister to say anything on the matter.
On Sunday, frontline fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force, including Sukhois, MiG-29s, Mirage 2000s and Jaguars, fired rockets and dropped bombs on targets that included mock enemy aircraft hangars and enemy convoys. The impressive demonstration was witnessed by President Pratibha Patil, who is supreme commander of the defence forces, besides Mr Antony, minister of state for defence M.M. Pallam Raju and the three service chiefs. A total of 107 IAF aircraft participated in the exercise.
While a large number of foreign military attaches based in New Delhi attended the exercise, the representatives of Pakistan and China were not invited.
The exercise that lit up the skies over Pokhran was held in three stages. The first was held in daylight in the evening, the second stage at dusk and the third held in moonlight. The bombing targets were a fair distance away from the grandstand on which the dignitaries were seated. The audience witnessed sonic booms as aircraft flew at supersonic speeds, dropped heavy bombs (including those of 1,000 kg) and fired infrared missiles at the targets. Even the MiG-27 aircraft, one of which had crashed recently, took part in the magnificent demonstration of air power. The IAF Garud special forces, along with aircraft like the AN 32 and the large IL-76 as well as attack helicopters also participated. Images of the aircraft firing missiles and bombs were relayed on three screens by unmanned aerial vehicles in the skies.
One commentator remarked: “The flypast was so splendid that even the wind stopped to stare.”

A New Zealand inventor has created a machine that can fly, or could be used as boat or a land vehicle. The machine works like a normal hovercraft that acts like a boat until it hits 70km per hour and takes to the skies.
The hovercraft is manufactured using homemade items like an old gas container. The manufacturer has presented the hovercraft for sale on a web site and received bid worth $14,000 so far.

New years resolution 2010 , New Year celebrations kick off latest updates :- The New Year celebrations have kicked off in various parts of the world including Australia and New Zealand.
Thousands of people, including foreigners, welcomed the New Year 2010 in New Zealand’s capital city Auckland.
In Australia, the skies lit up with a spectacular display of fireworks over Sydney Harbour as 1.5 million revellers took part in one of the world’s biggest New Year’s Eve parties and welcomed in 2010.
