6th ICC Awards Ceremony Tonight
As part of the
ICC’s celebration of the game’s heroes and role models, it stages the annual LG ICC Awards ceremony to recognise the major individual and team achievements in world cricket.
The ceremony features eleven awards that over the years have honoured some of the biggest names in men’s and women’s international cricket.
The LG ICC Awards ceremony is now in its sixth year and in 2009 will take place in Johannesburg around the ICC Champions Trophy. Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg (2007) and Dubai (2008).
This year’s LG ICC Awards includes eight individual prizes, including the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the Year. The winners of seven of these individual awards will be voted upon by a 25-person panel from around the world, made up of renowned former players, respected members of the media, and an elite umpire and elite match referee.
Meanwhile, the nominations for the Women’s Cricketer of the Year Award will be voted on by a separate 16-person voting academy featuring former players and other experts on the women’s game.
The other three awards are the ICC Test Team of the Year, the ICC ODI Team of the Year and the Spirit of Cricket Award.
Based on the 12 months between August 2008 and August 2009, the LG ICC Awards 2009 – presented in association with FICA – will take into account performances by players and officials in a remarkable period for the game.
The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in association with FICA was introduced as part of the ICC centenary celebrations at the start of 2009. This Hall of Fame was launched with 55 founding members and the first new inductees will be announced and receive commemorative caps at the LG ICC Awards ceremony.

Kimbo Slice Ultimate Fighter, The wait is almost over, as we are literally hours away from the eagerly awaited contest between Kimbo Slice and Roy Nelson, taking place on Episode 3 of The Ultimate Fighter Season 10.
We have already conducted a poll asking you who you thought would win, but now we have some more predictions to give you for the fight.
This might surprise a lot of you, but over at BloodyElbow, they have picked Roy Nelson to win the contest. Even more interesting though, the majority of their staff have picked Nelson to win by TKO.
Do you agree with their verdict, or do you think Kimbo has the skills to take out Nelson? According to our own poll below, the majority of you think that Kimbo will win. Let us know your thoughts on this.

Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson Results
Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson Results, During Wednesday’s broadcast of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV, Roy Nelson defeated Kimbo Slice in a second round TKO. Kimbo landed a couple of solid punches and had one nice takedown, but for the most part, he was defeated pretty handily.

Roy “Big Country” Nelson, an accomplished MMA fighter with considerable experience, defeated Kimbo Slice by TKO in the second round.
Slice, an internet fighting sensation known for several unsanctioned street fights, is trying to figure out whether he has a future in the MMA or UFC.
Slice was saved by the bell in the first round, but after several unanswered punches in the second round, the referee stepped in.
Don’t count Slice out just yet. Next week’s episode hints that Slice may be replacing Marcus Jones.

Corpus Delicti
Corpus delicti (Latin: “body of crime”) is a term from Western jurisprudence which refers to the principle that it must be proven that a crime has occurred before a person can be convicted of committing the crime. For example, a person cannot be tried for larceny unless it can be proven that property has been stolen. Likewise, in order for a person to be tried for arson it must be proven that a criminal act resulted in the burning of a property. Black’s Law Dictionary (6th ed.) defines “corpus delicti” as: “the fact of a crime having been actually committed.”
In the Anglo-American legal system, the concept has its outgrowth in several principles. Many jurisdictions hold as a legal rule that a defendant’s out-of-court confession, alone, is not sufficient evidence to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. See, e.g., Wong Sun v. United States, 371 U.S. 471, 497 n.14, 83 S.Ct. 407, 9 L.Ed.2d 441 (1963)(citing to corpus delicti rule and stating: “For the history and development of the corroboration requirement, see 7 Wigmore, Evidence [3d ed. 1940], §§ 2070-2071; Note, Proof of the Corpus Delicti Aliunde the Defendant’s Confession, 103 U. of Pa. L. Rev. 638-649 [1955]. For the present scope and application of the rule, see 2 Underhill, Criminal Evidence [5th ed. 1956], §§ 402-403. For a comprehensive collection of cases, see Annot., 45 A. L. R.2d 1316 [1956].”) A corollary to this rule is that an accused cannot be convicted solely upon the testimony of an accomplice. Some jurisdictions also hold that without first showing independent corroboration that a crime happened, the prosecution may not introduce evidence of the defendant’s statement.

Kimbo Slice Vs Roy Nelson: Roy Nelson is a horrible matchup for Kimbo Slice. He is an IFL champion. He had Andrei Arlovski dead to rights. If it wasn’t for a bogus stand up in the Shaw families shame of a promotion he might already be in the UFC. He is a BJJ blackbelt and is an excellent grappler. None of that bodes well for Slice. 
That is the very reason that it’s a great fight for Kimbo. If he wins, or even goes to a decision with Nelson, he should achieve instant credibility with skeptical MMA fans. It will also give the UFC an excuse to book Slice for a pay per view which win, lose or draw would definitely financially benefit both parties.
The fact that this fight is free on Spike TV is a credit to not only Slice, but Dana White and the UFC. It took balls for Slice to walk into this house knowing the bullseye that would be placed on his back and knowing that he would face fighters like Big Country. It also takes balls by White to do business with Kimbo, knowing what the reaction would be from the MMA hard cores. I don’ t want to make any predictions, save one. This will be a record night for The Ultimate Fighter, Spike TV and in all likelyhood, cable television.
Last year I had a chance to catch up with Roy Nelson after his Elite XC fight against the Pitbull. He spoke on fighting Kimbo even back then. It’s worth a listen if I do say so myself.
