NASSAU: A small plane crashed in a lake in the Bahamas on Tuesday, killing at least eight people shortly after takeoff from the international airport in the capital Nassau, local authorities said.
An official at the Bahamas civil aviation authority said the plane, a twin-prop Cessna 402, which can carry up to 10 people, came down in Nassau’s Lake Killarney just east of the airport on New Providence Island after setting off on a flight to another island in the southern Bahamas.
The eight confirmed victims of the crash included one man who died of his injuries after being taken to a local hospital, police said.
They said an investigation was under way to determine the cause of the accident.

Small Plane Crashed at Karachi Airport
KARACHI:
A small aircraft of a private airline was reported crashed during landing at Karachi airport.
A small plane skidded off the runway during landing in training flight and crashed at Jinnah International Airport, however, two pilots and two trainees remained safe in the tragedy.
No casualties have been reported as yet.
Civil Aviation Authority initiated relief activities following the incident and immediately cleared the runway for air traffic.

A helicopter and small plane have collided over the East River, witnesses said.
The two aircraft crashed near West 14th Street just before noon, with wreckage falling into the water and on land on the New Jersey side, witnesses told the New York Post.
It is unclear how many passengers were involved. Witnesses said the small plane was a Cessna.
Witnesses said one victim was already pulled out of the water and taken to Pier 40.
