Taseer abduction: Servant’s finger prints found from car
LAHORE: Important development was achieved in Shahbaz Taseer kidnapping case through finger prints.
Police sources said the finger prints garnered from the vehicle, belonged to Shahbaz Taseer’s servant.
According to sources, police are making progress in the light of finger prints reports; however, police said it could not be said for sure that Taseer’s servant whose finger prints had been found was involved in the abduction or not.
It should be mentioned here that some unidentified miscreants abducted Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on Friday while he was on his way to office. TrendPK
Israel arrests 120 Hamas members

The move came just hours after the faction s Gaza branch fired rockets into Israel, Palestinian police said.
Police sources said troops fanned out across the area in an overnight operation which kicked off just hours after Hamas s armed wing in Gaza fired rockets into southern Israel, lightly wounding two children.
Among those arrested early on Sunday was Hamas MP Mohammed Motlaq Abu J heisha, the sources said.
“Between 100 and 120 people have been arrested,” Samira Halaika, a Hamas MP from Hebron said. “In terms of size, there has never been such an arrest operation on this scale in the Hebron area before.”
Mushir al-Masri, another Hamas MP who lives in Gaza, said initial information showed at least 80 of the group s members had been arrested in a move which he said demonstrated Israel s “criminal mentality” towards the Palestinians.
Lahore: Police officers attend US Consulates dinner without permission

The higher police officials in Punjab attended the Iftar dinner without seeking permission from Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police.
Talking to News Trends after it aired the news, Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that an inquiry would be launched into the matter.
The police officials who attended American Consulate’s Iftar dinner include DIG Training Arif Nawaz, DIG Deputy Commandant Punjab Constabulary Khadim Hussain Bhatti, SP VVIP Security Lahore, Waqas, SSP Elite Force Major (r) Shehryar, SSP Major (r) Nasrullah and SP Headquarters Lahore, Romail Akram.
According to the sources, seeking permission of the higher authorities is compulsory for the police officials to attend this kind of Iftar dinners but all these officials attended the dinner without informing their senior authorities.

PIA increases Haj fares by 6 percent
KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced 6 percent increase in Haj fares. The cost of ticket from Karachi to Jeddah will be Rs. 72000 now.
The PIA made this decision due to the increase in fuel cost and decrease in Pakistani currency’s worth.
The summary to increase Umrah fares by Rs. 3000 has also been sent to the government, which is likely to be approved, according to the sources. TrendPK
PIA increases fares for Umra up to Rs. 2,000
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to increase the fares for Hajj and Umra. After the increase, Rs. 69,080 would be charged as Umra fare.
Meanwhile, after 6 percent increase, the Hajj package fare has been increased from 100,000 to 106,000 and short term Hajj fare has been increased from 120,000 to 1,27000.
According to the sources, PIA has devised a plan to increase Umra fares after every two weeks due to the increasing number of passengers.
Turkish Airlines Hijack bid Foiled by Passengers

ISTANBUL: A Turkish passenger on a Turkish Airlines flight from Oslo to Istanbul tried to hijack the plane before being overpowered by other passengers Wednesday, security sources said quoted by local.
The would-be hijacker, named as Cuma Yasar, said shortly before the scheduled landing that he had a bomb on him, the sources were quoted as saying.
The suspect, who comes from a Kurdish village in the southeastern region of Anatolia, headed for the cockpit of the Boeing 737-800 less than an hour before arrival at Istanbul and demanded that the aircraft return to Oslo, claiming to have a bomb.
But the 40-year-old was tackled by Turkish and Norwegian passengers and the plane landed safely at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport at 1930 GMT.
The suspect was immediately arrested. No explosive device was found, media said.
MQM calls Rabta Committee meeting to discuss political situation

Gujrat: 15,000 fake arms licenses cause millions of loss
Atleast 15,000 fake arms licenses have been captured from Gujrat which caused loss worth millions to the Punjab government, News Trends reported on Tuesday.
DPO Gujrat Agha Nawazish Ali said that more or less 15,000 fake arms licenses have been recovered from the arms license branch which are not present in any record. All the licenses were made after 2009 which have now been cancelled while FIRs have been lodged against those who made the fake licenses.
According to the sources, staff of the arms branch maintained an independent register in which arms licenses were listed down after taking fees but the amounts were never deposited in the national exchequer. This serious criminal act incurred loss worth millions of rupees to the provincial government.

LAHORE, News Trends: Prosecutor General of Punjab Justice (Rtd) Zahid Hussain Bukhari has tendered his resignation to the government.
In resignation letter Bukhari said that he wants to give time to his personal engagements and practice, so as he has decided to quit the office of Prosecutor General.
The provincial government has accepted the resignation, sources said.
According to the sources, Justice (Rtd) Zahid Hussain Bukhari has resigned from the office due to differences with the government of Punjab.
