Injured England captain Rio Ferdinand will be returning to the Manchester United HQ after England starts the group stage.
The England captain will go back to see the Manchester United medical staff about his recovery schedule after the game against the United States.
He could come back as part of England’s support staff, though.
England’s first game takes place on Saturday, but, depending on the recovery schedule the Manchester United doctors have for him, the captain could return to South Africa as part of the England team staff, in order to support his colleagues, at least morally, if he can’t do it from the pitch.
England coach Fabio Capello told Rio Ferdinand that he is welcome to stay with the team for as long as he wants. Still, it’s up to the Manchester United defender to decide whether he wants to fly back to South Africa later in the World Cup tournament or not.

After former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina clobbered her opponents in California’s Republican primary race for Senate Tuesday night, it didn’t take long for the fight to heat up between the newly-minted GOP nominee and Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer.
As Fiorina took to the podium to address supporters when the primary race was called, the Senate hopeful used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to fire off a string of attacks against her Democratic opponent.
“In her 28 years as a career politician, Barbara Boxer is a bitter partisan who has said much but done little,” Fiorina said in accepting California’s Republican Senate nomination. “She gets an A in politics, but she gets an F in achievement.”
The former HP CEO went on to blast Boxer as being on “the very fringe of American politics” and embodying a “destructive elitism.”
As for Boxer, the California Democrat is also already mounting an aggressive strategy in taking on Fiorina in November. “Our supporters are energized and organized, and we are all looking forward to a vigorous campaign on the road to victory in November,” said Boxer campaign manager Rose Kapolczynski Tuesday night.
Boxer’s campaign has also installed a “Setting the Record Straight” feature on her campaign website to rebut attacks unleashed by Fiorina.
A new web video released by Boxer’s camp criticizes Fiorina’s leadership at the helm of Hewlett In California, Carly Fiorina won comfortably, which was as the pre-election polls had indicated. Fiorina took the lead on the strength of a late surge and advertising in the closing weeks, pulling away from what had been a tight race with Tom Campbell.
As she sets her sights on Barbara Boxer now, Fiorina will also of course look to consolidate the Republican base in the state – in usually-blue California, that’ll be especially important.

The race for the GOP nomination for South Carolina governor has gotten nastier and nastier. Since Nikki Haley showed a significant lead in the polls opponents have gone out of their way to drag her name through the mud. Most recently, state senator John Knotts Jr. took a racial stab at Haley while appearing on a political talk show called “Pub Politics”.
While on the show Knotts said, “We already got one raghead in the White House, we don’t need another one in the Governor’s mansion.”
Haley is of Indian Sikh decent, although a Christian convert according to reports. Knotts later apologized, although, he followed up his apology by continuing to attack Haley saying she is pretending to be someone she is not.
The poll shows Haley drawing 43% of the vote in the four-way field. The next most popular Republican, Rep. Gresham Barrett, drew 23% of the vote. The poll, taken Saturday and Sunday among 998 likely primary voters, comes amidst multiple accusations of infidelity from men who claimed to have extra-marital affairs with Haley.
The poll suggests South Carolina Republicans are unmoved by the allegations, and have decided to take Haley at he word that nothing happened with either of the men who have claimed inappropriate relationships with her.
Heading into tomorrow’s primary, the TPM Poll Average for the full GOP field shows Haley with 31.1% of the vote, state Attorney General Henry McMaster with 17.6%, Barrett with 16.8% and Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer with 14.9%.
Haley is a prime example of this new, more genuine crop of grassroots conservative candidates, who in trying to cut through the BS has found even more of it lobbed her way and by her own party—and yet she still keeps coming out on top. The Republican establishment, whether at the national or state level, has never taken conservatism seriously and now that so many grassroots candidates and voters are, the old guard is desperate to play catch up. Too late. It’s time to mow down the old guard and let conservatism, finally, take root.

Florida International is in the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament now. With the help of streaking Garrett Wittels, Florida International won the Sun Belt championship game on Sunday, extending their season at least two
more games. Florida International will be seeded in the 64 team field and placed into one of the regional brackets which get announced on Monday, May 31st. Odds are good that they will either play in the Gainesville Regional or the Coral Gables Regional in order to stick a bit close to home during the first round of the tournament. It will give FIU and Garret Wittels a chance to shine even more when the schedule kicks into place.
Washington State finished the season with a 34-20 overall record, posting a 15-12 record in a very tough Pac-10 Conference. Pointing to how tough the conference was this year, Arizona State, which won the regular season Pac-10 championship, is the No. 1 overall seed in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. There are several other Pac-10 teams that made the tournament as well, including UCLA, Oregon, and Arizona just to name a few. They received their marching orders on May 31st as well, and all of these Pac-10 teams will be playing in difference regional tournaments.
Every team that makes the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament is placed into a four team grouping. Within those four teams is a double-elimination tournament, where one team emerges to play in the Super Regionals or basically the second round. Just 16 teams emerge from the Regionals, and just eight teams emerge from the Super Regionals to make up the final field of eight teams that will play for the 2010 College Baseball World Series.
Joining Coastal Carolina in the double-elimination regional are the College of Charleston, North Carolina State and Stony Brook. The Chanticleers will open with Seawolves, who won the America East title. The Cougars will play the Wolfpack in the other opener.
Coastal Carolina leads the nation with 51 wins and won all 25 of their games to take the Big South Conference crown.
Each of the 16 regional winners advance to the super regionals, with the eight remaining teams earning trips to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning June 19.
The winner of the Columbia regional plays the winner of the regional hosted by Coastal Carolina.

Auburn, seeded first in its regional, will play host to Clemson, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State beginning Friday at Plainsman Park.
The NCAA College World Series field of 64 was announced on Monday.
The Tigers, winners of the SEC Western Division, will face Jacksonville State while Clemson will play Southern Miss. Game times will be announced later.
Meanwhile, Alabama will go on the road to Atlanta and the Georgia Tech regional. Alabama, the second seed, will face third-seeded Elon in the first game. Top-seeded Georgia Tech and Mercer will follow in the second game.
The Yellow Jackets are one of eight seeds in the national tournament (8). The top seed is Arizona State followed by Texas, Florida, Coastal Carolina, Virginia, UCLA, and Louisville.
Eight SEC teams made the tournament including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, South Carolina and Florida. Over in the other side of the 2010 College World Series bracket we have No. 10 seeded Arizona against No. 15 Tennessee in a 4 p.m. PST match on June 3rd. That game will then be followed by No. 6 Georgia vs. No. 3 Washington at 6:30 p.m. PST. The winners face off at 6 p.m. PST on Friday, June 4th, and the losers play at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 5th.
This could be a very interesting double elimination tournament, and there are a number of great teams left in the 2010 College World Series that could potentially win the whole thing. Washington might be the favorite, but you can never count out UCLA, or that high-powered offense coming out of Florida.

Jamaica declares emergency as police clash with Kingston gangs
A state of emergency has been declared in Kingston, Jamaica as police clashed with armed gangs protecting a drugs lord wanted in the United States.
Federal officials on Monday issued a warning advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel to downtown Kingston, Jamaica, in light of gang violence plaguing the capital.
“There is a possibility of isolated disturbances, riots, and violence due to ongoing political tensions,” Foreign Affairs Canada said in a press release. “The security situation could deteriorate with little or no notice, and the potential for civil unrest and violent clashes remains.”
Jamaica’s prime minister imposed on Sunday a state of emergency after gang members rampaged through the capital over the weekend in support of an alleged druglord facing extradition to the United States.
Gunmen from various communities across the Caribbean nation of 2.8 million joined with criminal elements, police said, in a bid to protect reputed gang leader Christopher “Dudus” Coke.
Earlier, a state of emergency was declared in two parishes of Kingston after shooting and firebomb attacks on police stations by suspected supporters of an alleged drug lord who faces extradition to the US.
The Jamaican government said that the ’state of public emergency’ came into effect at 12am Irish time.
The attackers were suspected supporters of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke whom the government has called on to surrender to face a US extradition request on cocaine trafficking and gun-running charges.
Streets into the Tivoli Gardens area of Kingston, where Mr Coke is believed to be hiding, were barricaded yesterday in defiance of a police call for Mr Coke to hand himself over.
The US Department of State has issued a travel alert warning its citizens of the possibility of violence in the area.
Tension rose over the last week after Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced he was starting proceedings to extradite Mr Coke.
U.S. officials sent an extradition request for Christopher “Dudus” Coke to the Jamaican government nine months ago, but Prime Minister Bruce Golding had refused to allow it to be processed, arguing that the evidence in it had been obtained illegally.
However, amid growing criticism, Mr. Golding said last week Coke must be arrested and brought to court for an extradition hearing on charges of drug and gun trafficking.
The United States and Britain have issued travel advisories for Jamaica because of the threat of violence and unrest.

SC governor hopeful denies blogger claim of affair
A South Carolina blogger, and former aide to Governor Mark Sanford claims he had an affair with GOP gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley.
On his blog Monday morning, Will Folks wrote, “several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki Haley.“
Haley’s campaign “emphatically” denied the claim to WIS-TV in Columbia.
The candidate, Rep. Nikki Haley, vehemently denied the allegation, made in a post on blogger Will Folks’ website that contained no proof of a relationship. Haley called the claim a “disgraceful smear” planted to derail her campaign, which has gained steam from high-powered endorsements, including one from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Haley, who married her husband Michael in 1996, was recently endorsed by Sarah Palin.
Folks said he came clean with the affair after being targeted by Haley’s political opponents, who were slowly leaking out the news “while simultaneously forcing either evasive answers or denials on my part or on Nikki’s part.”
Folks said in a blog post that he went public about the purported affair with Haley because political adversaries were leaking proof of it to mainstream media outlets to impugn his reputation and destroy her.
“The truth in this case is what it is,” he wrote. “Several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki.”
Folks, a former Sanford spokesman, is a political consultant who now runs FITSNews.com, a conservative site that features occasionally insightful commentary, thinly sourced stories of state political intrigue and photos of women in bikinis. It refers to him as “Sic Willie,” sports the tag line “Unfair. Imbalanced,” and often promotes Haley’s campaign.

South Carolina political blogger Will Folks has admitted that he had an affair with Republican candidate for governor Nikki Haley. Folks wrote on his blog Monday that he had an “inappropriate physical relationship” several years ago with Haley, before he was married. Haley, who married her husband Michael in 1996, was recently endorsed by Sarah Palin .
I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage. This claim against me is categorically and totally false. It is quite simply South Carolina politics at its worst.”
Folks said he decided to go public with the affair after being targeted by Haley’s political opponents, who were slowly leaking out the news “while simultaneously forcing either evasive answers or denials on my part or on Nikki’s part.”
“I refuse to play that game,” he wrote. “I refuse to have someone hold the political equivalent of a switch-blade in front of my face and just sit there and watch as they cut me to pieces. The truth in this case is what it is. Several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki. That’s it.
In recent weeks, however, a group of political operatives has attempted to do just that. In fact, on a very personal level I have become the primary target of a group that will apparently stop at nothing to destroy the one S.C. gubernatorial candidate who, in my opinion, would most consistently advance the ideals I believe in. For those of you unfamiliar with the editorial bent of this website, the candidate I am referring to is S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley.
This network of operatives has made it abundantly clear that in the process of “taking down” Rep. Haley, they will also stop at nothing to humiliate me, destroy my family and take a sizable chunk out of the credibility this website has managed to amass for itself. Such is the blood sport of S.C. politics, I suppose – particularly in the wake of the scandal that consumed my former boss, Gov. Mark Sanford.
