Four more Kashmiri protesters succumb to injuries

SRINAGAR: Four more Kashmiri youth, who were injured in the firing of Indian police and troops during the recent demonstrations at different places, succumbed to injuries in various hospitals, taking the death toll since June 11 to 114.

The martyrs included Bilal Ahmed Najar of Islamabad, Shabir Ahmed Dar of Chakoora, Pulwama, Muhammad Amin Ganai of Tappar, Pattan and Ali Mohammad Waza of Palhalan, Pattan.

The occupation authorities continue to impose curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar and other major towns for the eighth successive day, today.

Besides, Indian troops thrashed staff members of local dailies at Kaka Sarai in Srinagar, injuring one of them critically. The injured was admitted in Bones and Joint Hospital at Barzulla. SAMAA

SRINAGAR: Thousands of residents of Indian occupied Kashmir poured on to the streets Saturday after the death of another protester in a wave of anti-India unrest that has gripped the region for three months.

Defying a strict curfew, protesters in Srinagar chanted “we want freedom!” and “Indians go back,” in an outpouring of public anger after the latest death, which brought the death toll since the violence began in June to 98.

The young protester died in a hospital Saturday after being injured earlier this week when security forces fired on violent protesters in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian occupied Kashmir.

Women and children were among those out on the streets on Saturday, the sixth day of a rigid indefinite curfew brought in across the region to try to contain the unrest.

SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred five more innocent Kashmiri youth in Tral.

The troops martyred the youth in Sajan-Dudkulan area of Tral during a siege and search operation.

On the other hand, Indian police and paramilitary CRPF personnel roughed up a scribe associated with a local daily ‘Greater Kashmir’, Majid Hyderi in Hyderpora area of Srinagar, this morning. Hyderi was heading to cover press conference of veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani.

The personnel of Special Operations Group of the police beat up a lady doctor and paramedical staff near Parimpore, Srinagar when they were on way to hospital in an ambulance.

IHK: Forces advised to shoot anyone defying curfew

At least three more people were killed in in battles between troops and protesters in the Occupied Kashmir. Indian police threatened to shoot anyone defying a round-the-clock curfew. Still, hundreds of anti-India protesters took to the streets of the region’s main city of Srinagar and more than a dozen other places in the region. All Pakistani channels have also been banned in the valley.
Earlier Indian paramilitary personnel killed at least 19 civilians and injured over 200 others when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in several parts of the held valley, demanding of India to vacate the territory without any further delay in Indian occupied Kashmir. Those killed included three teenaged boys, a woman and district president of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R. The killings took place in Bandipore, Tangmarg, Cherare Sherief, Budgam,Pampore, Sopore and Islamabad. Another youth who was injured on September 6 in the firing of police personnel succumbed to injuries in a Srinagar hospital on September 12.
With fresh killings the death toll of protesters in the ongoing uprising mounted to 96 since June 11. On the other hand, Indian troops during crackdown operations martyred three innocent civilians at Lashkoot in Bandipore.
Meanwhile, an indefinite curfew was imposed in Poonch town while protest demonstrations were also held in Jammu, Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Batote, Kastigar and Mandi areas.

In Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK), following massive anti-India and pro-liberation demonstrations on the day of Eid at historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar and other parts of the valley, the authorities have imposed curfew in Srinagar, Islamabad, Bijbehara, Pulwama, Kakapora, Sopore and Baramulla and restrictions in all parts of the territory.
On the other hand, an FIR has been lodged by authorities against APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq alleging him of instigating trouble and arson in Lal Chowk. The FIR no. 83/2010 stands registered against Mirwaiz in Shergarhi Police Station, a police official told media men.

One more dies in Kashmir, as India continues bloodshed

SRINAGAR: Three more lost their lives in police action in Kashmir.

In Srinagar, a boy has been killed in Shalteng near Zainakote area in the outskirts of Srinagar in police and paramilitary firing.

The slain teen has been identified as Sahil Ahmad Dar S/O Mohammad Yasin Dar of Zainakote.

Doctors at SMHS Hospital said that the boy was brought dead to the hospital. He had received bullets in his abdomen.

Reports said that other seven are wounded in Shalteng.

In Kulgam, two persons were killed and fifteen others were injured when police and paramilitary forces opened fire on a group of demonstrators at Frisal Kulgam a short while ago. Five of the injured are said to be in a critical condition.

As the news of the deaths spread, hundreds of people came out of their homes and set on fire a Police Post and the house of a Special Police Officer (SPO) who is believed to have taken part in the firing.

Elsewhere, thousands of people have assembled outside Kulgam District Police Lines to protest against the killings.

Police personnel were firing in air to quell the demonstrators.

Elsewhere, Shoot-at-sight orders were announced along the Srinagar International Airport today by the Police. Special Flying Squads made announcements between Hydepora and Humhama adjoining, warning people not the come out of their homes.

Meanwhile, reports from the hill resort of Tangmarg near Gulmarg say massive protests are being held in the area against the ongoing civilian killings in Kashmir. Angry protesters hurled stones on the house of local Member Assembly, Ghulam Hassan Mir, and tried to set it on fire. However the guards there fired in the air and the people dispersed.

Clashes between security forces and demonstrators were going in most parts of the summer capital including Lal Bazar, Nawpora, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Gojwara, Qammarwari, Bemina etc.

At Jamia Masjid, thousands of people offered funeral Prayers of Anees Ahamd Ganai, who was shot dead by police in Narwara in old city Srinagar.

Defying the Curfew people rushes towards Eidgah (Martyr’s Graveyard) police fired teargas Shells at Hazratbal, Hyderpora, Safa Kadal, Karan Nagar and other areas of Srinagar.

Additional security forces, which were deployed at Rambagh Bridge, were rushed to Sheikhpora.

As two people were injured when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators at Sheikhpora in the central Kashmir district of Budgam.

Indefinite curfew continues in H-Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Indian authorities continue to strictly enforce the indefinite curfew in Srinagar and other major cities and towns, while three Indian troops have been critically injured in Sopore.

Besides Srinagar, the curfew continues in Sopore, Ganderbal, Handwara, Islamabad, Pulwama and Kakpora while restrictions have been imposed in other towns including Baramulla, Qazigund, Bijbehara and Kangan.

Meanwhile, at least three troops of Indian Central Reserve Police Force were injured in two separate grenade attacks in Sopore town.

Amnesty urges India to probe H-Kashmir killings

SRINAGAR: Amnesty International urged India to investigate recent killing of civilians in held Kashmir on Saturday, as thousands of Indian troops enforced a strict curfew in parts of the held region.

“The organisation is calling on Indian authorities to investigate all the killings,” the London-based rights group said in a statement. It added that “any security personnel, as well as any protesters” involved in wrongdoing should be brought to justice.

The group also urged India to “avoid excessive use of force while dealing with demonstrators.” Troops enforced a strict curfew in parts of the summer capital Srinagar, southern Anantnag and northern Kupwara towns, police said.
