ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani met to the chiefs of the armed forces and the Chairman of Senate to greet Eid in Islamabad.
After performing Eid prayers, the Chairman of Senate Farooq H. Naik, the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff General Khalid Shamim Wyne, the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, the acting Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt and the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir called on the Prime Minister separately, in the PM House, and expressed Eid greetings.

RAWALPINDI/LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif held meeting with the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani Saturday.
Sources told that law and order situation in the country, post flood conditions, rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons by the recent floods and other such issues were discussed in the meeting.

PM calls on President, COAS
Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi were also present during the meeting.
Matters relating to recently concluded third round of Pak-US Strategic Dialogue and overall regional situation were discussed. Law and order situation in the country also came under discussion.
Washington: Kiyani meets CENTCOM Commander
Chief of The Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiyani called on the commander of American Central Command General James N. Mattis in Washington.
Matters of professional and common interest as well as the security situation were discussed in the meeting. Army Chief also visited Walter Reed medical center where he met with the injured personnel of ISAF forces who got injured during fighting in Afghanistan. Earlier General Kiyani participated in the planning session of Pak-American strategic dialogue.
CoAS Kayani, Colin Powell Meet in Washington
WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Perveiz Kayani and US former Secretary of State Colin Powell held one-on-one meeting here.
In another meeting, Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar called on former US Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage and former US Defense Secretary William Cohen.
CoAS Kayani and Colin Powell held one-to-one meeting, sources said. Matters pertaining to peace and stability in the region and security situation came under discussions.
Meanwhile, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar discussed issues of mutual interests during meeting with Richard Armitage and Willem Cohen.
Former US Deputy Secretary Armitage said the pace of aid being released to Pakistan, he termed ‘slow and too little’, adding that peace and stability cannot guarantee in Afghanistan excluding Pakistan.
“US-Afghanistan cannot come up with any peaceful solution to Afghan unrest excluding Pakistan”, he noted.
Former US Defense Secretary William Cohen urged Pakistan to step up offensive against Taliban-linked Haqqani Group in Pakistan.
Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said US has blocked Pakistan’s Alliance Support Fund and the cost of military equipments meant for enhancing Pakistan’s military competence is beyond affordability.
A reception in honour of Pakistan’s delegation comprising top military and civilian brass, was hosted at the residence of Pakistan’s ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani here in Washington.
Key officials from US’s State Department and newly designated US’s envoy to Pakistan Cameron Minthor also attended the reception.
Kayani heads to US to attend strategic dialogue
Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani has left for United States to attend the third phase of Pak-US strategic dialogue which would start in Washington from tomorrow.
Pakistan Army chief will hold meetings with US military officials and the members of Obama administration during his stay in United States, ISPR spokesman said. The officials of the two countries will consider cooperation in energy, agriculture, education, security and other sectors in the talks that will last for three days. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will head the Pakistani delegation, while the US team will be headed by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Army Chief Gen. Kayani and Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will also attend the meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will address the nation today (Sunday), at a time when the government is facing multiple challenges on political and economic.
The address is being seen as very crucial vis-à-vis its timing and the prevailing political situation following a Supreme Court order against possible withdrawal of the executive order through which the judges had been reinstated.

Pakistan to face England in third test match today
Third Test match between Pakistan and England will start today in Oval. The national team made four changes in the side. Muhammad Yousaf and Yasir Hameed have been included in the team in place of Shoaib Malik and Umer Amin while Wahhab Riaz has been successful in making test debut. Team Manager Yawar Saeed told Dunya News that Kamran Akmal will replace unfit wicket keeper Zulqarnain Haider. After Azhar Ali and Umer Amin, Wahhab Riaz will be third player to make test debut.
Zardari arrives in Russia to attend quadripartite summit
President Zardari arrived in Sochi, Russia to attend the quadripartite summit on Wednesday (today).
On his arrival, Sochi Mayor and Pakistani envoy to Russia Khalid Khattak and other officials greeted President Zardari at the airport. Zardari would also meet with the Russian, Afghan and Tajik presidents on the sidelines of the summit. Sources said that the leaders of Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan would discuss security, terrorism, drugs and economic cooperation in the region.
COAS visits flood hit areas
Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited flood-ravaged areas of Balochistan, South Punjab and Sindh and reviewed the relief measures.
According to ISPR, Kayani visited relief camps set up at Multan, Dera Murad Jamali and Dadu areas.
The COAS stressed upon coordination with the civil administration to mitigate the sufferings and rehabilitation of the flood-stricken people. He also issued orders to send medical students, nursing staff and doctors of the Army Medical College for relief activities.
