CANBERRA: Police were investigating whether any Australian law was broken by the latest leaking of confidential documents by online whistle-blower WikiLeaks, the attorney-general said Monday.
Robert McClelland said he was not aware of a request from the United States to cancel WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s Australian passport. A range of options were under consideration by Australian government agencies in response to the latest disclosure of classified U.S. material, he said.
McClelland told reporters there are “potentially a number of criminal laws” that could have been breached.
Defense Minister Stephen Smith said later that a cross-government committee was studying the documents to ascertain what damage could be done by their release.
“We need to take it … step by step, but our starting and endpoint is essentially protecting Australia’s
Palestinians call on US, Israel to set borders

RAMALLAH: The Palestinians on Wednesday called on the US administration and Israel to define borders in response to Israel’s demand for recognition as the Jewish state.
“We officially demand that the US administration and the Israeli government provide a map of the borders of the state of Israel which they want us to recognise,” senior Palestinian official Yasser Abed Rabbo told AFP.
His remarks came after the US State Department asked the Palestinians to extend a counter-proposal to Israel’s call for recognition as a “Jewish state” in exchange for a possible extension of restrictions on settlement building.
The Palestinians rejected the offer, saying recognition of Israel’s Jewish identity had no relation to the peace process.
They instead demanded that the US administration set the 1967 lines as the starting point for negotiations about final
Texas Rangers Baseball Playoff Schedule
Texas Rangers Baseball Playoff Schedule: The Rangers acquired Cliff Lee to bolster their starting rotation, and to add a legitimate ace for the playoffs. It would appear that the trade accomplished exactly that. Cliff Lee was dominant in yesterday’s 5-1 win over Tampa Bay. Facing the third best offense in baseball, Lee surrendered only one run over seven innings while striking out ten. Given Lee’s past success in the post-season, it’s tough to be surprised by this outcome.
Pitching Match-Up: C.J. Wilson will try to duplicate Lee’s results as he squares off against James Shields. After spending his career coming out of the bullpen, Wilson was a revelation as a starter. Playing in a very hitter friendly ballpark, C.J. went 15-8 with a 3.35 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 204 innings.
By mixing a low 90′s heater with a terrific slider and sick cutter, Wilson has been baffling hitters all season. James Shields is a different story. The velocity has been up on Shields fastball, but the pitch has been wildly ineffective. Despite throwing a nice change-up, Shields finished the season with a 13-15 record and a disheartening 5.18 ERA. Truthfully, it’s surprising to see the veteran Shields get the start over the more effective Matt Garza, but I typically trust Joe Maddon.

MUMBAI: Saira Banu or Bano, one of the most beautiful and talented veteran actress of India, celebrates her birthday today, August 23. She is the wife of yesteryear’s star Dilip Kumar who shone in the Hindi film industry for almost three decades.
Saira Banu plunged into acting when she was just 17 years old. Her first film starred the heartthrob of then, Shammi Kapoor in the film Junglee. This was in the year 1961. Her first film itself got her nominated for the Filmfare awards for the category of ‘Best Actress’. That was the starting as well as the turning point of her career and she had no chance to look back then.
Other films that are still counted as one of the bests are ‘Bluff master’, ‘Shagird’, ‘Padosan’ – this was a multi starrer film of that time, that included the big names like Kishore Kumar, Mahmood, Sunil Dutt, Om Prakash, etc., Purab aur Paschim and many

NEW YORK – Time to draft and time to trade.
The final day of the NFL draft began with St. Louis further bolstering its anemic offense by taking wide receiver Mardy Gilyard, who once lost his scholarship at Cincinnati and even lived out of his car. Moments later Saturday, the Tennessee Titans dealt LenDale White to Seattle, reuniting him with his college coach, Pete Carroll.
Soon after, the Oakland Raiders sent their starting middle linebacker, Kirk Morrison, to Jacksonville as the bartering got heavy in Round 4.
In Round 5, the New York Jets dealt running back-kick returner Leon Washington to Seattle.
New Seahawks coach Carroll dealt for one of his mainstays at Southern California, getting White from the Titans for Seattle’s fourth-rounder and sixth-rounder. The Seahawks also received defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, and the Titans selected UCLA cornerback Alterraun Verner with the spot acquired in the deal.
The burly and bruising White helped Carroll win a national championship with the Trojans. But he lost his starting job to Chris Johnson, and had problems with being late for meetings.
“As far as LenDale falling out of favor, he practiced,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. “He was prepared to play. I think I can’t blame him for wanting to play more. That’s the kind of players you want on your roster. Considering the circumstances, he handled things. There were issues I don’t need to bring up. I thought he handled things reasonably well.”

Reading vs Liverpool
Reading vs Liverpool: Liverpool is going in this match for the win with most of the key players, and Rafa Benitez has told in a interview that they will play for the Fa Cup.Liverpool played very good football against Aston Villa and won in hte end with a goal from Torres, but the whole match they dominated the game and had more chances. Now they face one young and unexperienced team without a manager at the moment Reading, who is struggling at the Chamionship level and are at the 20 th place with 23 points from 24 games. So the difference at the teams is big and Liverpool will come and win that’s for sure ,but with how many goals is the question.Jay Tabb,Chris Armstrong,Julian Kelly and Noel Hunt are all injured and will miss this match, while Gunnar Thorvaldsson is not avaible for this match. For Liverpool Glen Johnson is injured and Albert Riera just returned and will most likely not be in the starting eleven and Javier Mascherano will miss this match with suspension. So it will be one sided game and Liverpool will advance. So Liverpool -2 Ah is great bet.
