PSM chief executive Imtiaz Lodhi suspended
Steel Mills Board has suspended Pakistan Steel Mills Chief Executive Imtiaz Lodhi, trendpk.com reported on Friday.
Steel Mills Board chairman Fazalullah Qureshi while talking to trendpk.com.Com said that Public Accounts Committee had put reservations over Chief Executive Imtiaz Lodhi and directed the government to take notice of the issue. The Board under one-point agenda suspended the Chief Executive and appointed Senior Technical Director Wasif Mehmood as Acting Chief Executive. The Board also appealed the government to appoint permanent Chief Executive of the Pakistan Steel Mills.
Political parties should work for country’s betterment: PM
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that reduction in oil prices has brought back all political parties in coalition.
Talking to Media, the PM said that he had telephoned all key political leaders including Nawaz Sharif, Pir Pagara, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehmen and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and discussed current political situation in the country. He said that the government was seeking guidance from all political parties to settle fuel prices. He said we all are friends not masters and we have to work together to bring country out of crisis. He said all stake holders would be on board to end gas, power loadshedding and corruption in the country. He said that PML-Q, MQM, ANP, PML-F and JUI-F have assured their full support to the present government. He stated that the government would restructure of PRs, Steel Mills, PIA and other departments. He said that accountability of all institutions would be made transparent. NFC, 19th amendment, Balochistan package were the big achievements of the PPP-led government, he added.
SC Dismisses Plea to Stop Steel Mills Graft Probe
ISLAMABAD, News Trends: Supreme Court (SC) dismissed plea filed here in order to plead the court to stall the investigations into Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) corruption worth billions of rupees.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry expressed disapproval when the PSM’s counsel Fakhrud Din G Ibrahim pleaded the court for order to stop the investigations into PSM corruption.
A three-member bench headed by the CJP Chaudhry heard the case regarding the PSM corruption. Also Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief Wasim Akhtar was present during the hearing.
FG Ibrahim submitted that the FIA investigations into the Mills corruption is causing loss to the PSM; accordingly, this process should be stanched.
Briton killed in Lahore attacks
LONDON: A British man was killed in attacks on two worship houses in Lahore which killed more than 80 people, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.
“I can confirm that a British national died in the attacks on Friday,” a Foreign Office spokeswoman said, without giving further details.
Reports said the victim was Muhammad Bilal, a 58-year-old married father of three children, from Southfields in southwest London.
The businessman had set up a medical clinic and provided financial help to the poor of Lahore, his relatives told British media.

KARACHI: Well-known businessman Riaz Lalji who went missing in Karachi on Sunday hours after arriving in the city from Dubai arrived home, Geo News reported.
Lalji arrived in Karachi from Dubai in PIA”s flight no PK-214 and went missing along with his gunman and driver from outside a super market located near Karachi airport. His vehicle has been found abandoned from Sharea Faisal.
A case has been lodged in Airport Police Station for the alleged kidnapping of Riaz Lalji his gunman and driver Kishan on the request of Maj. (Retd.) Muhammad Tahir.
CCPO Karachi Wasim Ahmed has formed an investigation committee headed by DIG East Abdul Khaliq Sheikh which has initiated its work.
The mobile phones of the three missing people have been found turned off while so far no one has tried to make contact with their families.
According to sources, Riaz Lalji is one of close friends of President Asif Ali Zardari and controversy surrounds his name in the cases of Steel Mills besides those of Rice Export Corporation of Pakistan (1995-96).

Rehman Malik Says TTP Behind Lahore Attack
ISLAMABAD PAKISTAN: The suicide bombing at a building in Lahore was carried out by the remnants of Taliban militants, Interior Minister said here on Monday.
Talking to media men after attending a Supreme Court hearing, Rehman Malik said, “the terrorists’ attacks would not dampen our spirits.”
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan has been involved in all terror attacks committed in the country, Malik said. “They are hired killers and want to destabilize Pakistan,” he said.
Talking on the court hearing in Steel Mills corruption case Malik said the learned court has granted his plea and exempted him to attend the court proceedings.

Pakistan News: President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl ur Rahman has claimed that the President and the Prime Minister has no control on the issues of the country but instead decisions are being taken at GHQ. FIA Arrests 3 More Accused in Steel Mills Corruption Case
KARACHI, Pakistan News: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested three more accused in the Steel Mills corruption case on Tuesday.
T
hat the arrested accused include Birgadear (retd) Qayoom, Rasheed Abro and Attique Rehman. There were four FIRs registered on these three accused.
There are allegations on the accused to purchase the coal from the market on the expensive rates and to sell the steal on the cheap prices in the market that caused steel Mills with losses of billions of rupees, officials added.
The three accused were involved in the corruption with the former Chairman Steel Mills Moeen Aftab.
Former Chairman Steel Mills has been already arrested few days back.
