GALLE: Sri Lanka seized the initiative in the first cricket test by reducing India to 140-3 at stumps on day three after declaring its first innings at 520-8 on Tuesday.

Pakistan is at 94-4 against 519-8 on the 2nd day of Hobart Test.
Earlier Australia declared the innings at 519-8. Kangaroos started the 2nd day with 302-3 with Ricky Ponting ‘s remarkable 209 innings. Michael Clarke made 166. In the third session of the game, Ponting declared the innings at 519-8. Pakistan started the game with Opener Imran Farhat got out at 38 while Khurram Manzoor ducked. Captain Muhammad Yousuf and Umar Akmal made 7 and 8 runs respectively. Partners Shoaib Malik, 34 and Salman Butt, 5 are not-out. Peter Siddle took two wickets.

Australia sit pretty at 322 for 5 at Gabba
Australia ended the opening day’s play of the 1st Test at Gabba against West Indies at 322 for 5 after winning the toss. West Indies had a bright start when Shane Watson was lbw on nought after offering no shot to a Jerome Taylor inswinger. After that it was all Australia with Simon Katich (92 from 134 balls with 13 fours and a six) and Ricky Ponting (55 from 79 balls with 8 fours) laying the foundation for a big first innings score.
Michael Hussey scored 66 and Michael Clarke, Marcus North hit 40s to further consolidate the hosts. At stumps on Day 1, Australia have Marcus North on 42 along with wicket keeper Brad Haddin who is on 9. Dwayne Bravo picked up two wickets to be the most successful bowler of the day.
