Pak vs SL: BHOOM BHOOM AFRIDI – Takes His 300th Wicket In ODI
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka: While “BHOOM BHOOM AFRIDI” is renowned for his aggressive batting, he is also a handy leg-spinner capable of producing a good mix of wicket taking balls. This is a good news for the fans of Afridi that he claimed his 300th wicket in one-day internationals during his team’s World Cup Group A match against Sri Lanka on Saturday. . While his stock ball is the leg break, his armoury also includes the conventional off break and a ‘quicker one’ which he can deliver at nearly 80 mph in the style of a medium-pacer.
He got 5 wickets in the first match of ICC Cricket world cup against Kenya. 11th match of ICC Cricket Cricket world Cup 2011 is continue in R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. And now “BHOOM BHOOM AFRIDI” is also on fire in bowling against Sri Lanka.

LONDON: They may have been kicked off The X Factor last weekend, but Belle Amie are clearly determined not to fade into oblivion like so many of the show’s former contestants.
The girl group – Esther Campbell, Geneva Lane, Sophia Wardman and Rebecca Creighton – made the most of their time in the spotlight by adding some glamour to the premiere of Robert Downey Jr’s new movie Due Date in London.
While Geneva showed off her long legs in a tiny sequinned dress, Esther opted for a black jumpsuit, Rebecca Creighton went for a bright blue dress and Sophia Wardman proved her style credentials in a white dress, boots and patterned socks.
And while their time on the X Factor might be up, Belle Amie have no intention of disappearing now they are no longer on the reality show.
Geneva, 20, explained: “We want to keep ourselves busy, we don’t want to fade. We hope to progress and become stronger.
“We are definitely staying together and are going to move in together at some point, we’re looking already.
“We want to experiment and really find ourselves, because we still feel that we need to find our identity, so this is going to be good for us.”
And Belle Amie weren’t the only casualties of this year’s X Factor to make an appearance at the London premiere.
Niccolo Festa, who was the first act voted off the current series, and Louis Walsh”s act John Adeleye, who fell victim to the second week of live shows, attended with their dates.
Due Date tells the story of a father-to-be (played by Downey Jr), who is forced to go on a road trip with an eccentric aspiring actor (played by Zach Galifianakis) in order to be with his wife (Michelle Monaghan) when she gives birth to their first baby.
Downey Jr attended the premiere with his wife Susan Downey, who produced the film, who looked stunning in an elegant red asymmetric dress.
And Galifianakis, who shot to fame through his role in The Hangover, went for casual style in cord trousers and a beanie hat as he posed at the event.
Talking about the film recently, Downey Jr said it is the ”second greatest” movie he has ever starred in, adding: ”That’s largely due to Zach Galifianakis, who is crazy good in every scene, and Todd Phillips, who is just one of the great American directors.
”I guarantee you’re going to love it – I went to the last screening and people were literally saying ‘Oh my god, It’s gotta stop – my face hurts!’
Ashutosh Gowariker launches music of Gajendra Ahire’s Marathi film

Ashutosh Gowariker recently unveiled the first look and launched the music of maverick director Gajendra Ahire’s latest Marathi offering – his musical
masterpiece Sumbaran… Soneri Divsanchya Soneri Aathavani. The star studded ceremony that featured many celebrities and glitterati from the Marathi
industry featured performances by none other than Shaan himself along with music director Ajit Parab and Janhavi.
The event was also a celebration of Sumbaran’s selection in the Indian Panorama category of the prestigious International Film Festival of India 2010 (IFFI
2010). With the selection of Sumbaran at IIFI, Gajendra Ahire now holds the distinction of probably being the only director whose films have got selected at
IIFI more than thrice.
Also present at the ceremony were the cast and crew of Sumbaran including Makarand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav, Jitendra Joshi, Ravi Kale, Ravindra Mankani,
Sai Tamhankar, Vrunda Ahire, Mukta Barve, Ashwini Kalsekar, Aditi Bhagwat, Seema Deshmukh, Sushrut Mankani, Swarali Patil, Music director Rahul Ranade,
editor Rahul Bhatankar, and cinematographer.
According to the producer Mr. Sunil Phadtare “It’s indeed a joyous occasion for all of us. Making this film was a cathartic experience and it was all
Gajendra sirs’ efforts that have made this film a masterpiece. I would also specially like to thank Rahul Ranade for composing such a melodious album. He has
skilfully managed to capture all the emotions in the film transcending in to the music.”
Sumbaran is a romantic love story of a village left behind and for each one it is a different alibi. It marks the journey of a budding music director
Viru (Jitendra Joshi) who decides to visit his native home along with his brother Vasanta (Makarand Anaspure), sister in law Vahini (Vrunda Ahire), his two
friends Mukta (Sai Tamhankar) and Sushu (Sushrut Mankani). Visiting this abandoned house creates the ripple of pleasant memories not only for Veeru but also
his aloof brother Vasanta. The film unravels the mystery of unforgotten cultural roots, unspoken bonds, mischief, melodious music and unprecedented romance
in addition to bringing to fore rapidly changing social dynamics.
Beaming with pride director Gajendra Ahire said, “it’s an honour to be selected at the Indian Panorama and its all the more sweet as this my fourth movie to
be selected. Sumbaran is not just a film it’s an unforgettable experience. It’s a story of picturesque memories reminiscing lost personas. Sumbaran is
a collaborative effort in the every sense of the word and I am extremely happy with the way this movie has shaped up. It undoubtedly is amongst my best works
thus far.”
The Sumbaran music album contains five tracks in all, vastly ranging from authentic folk (originated from a nomadic shepherd community -Dhangar) to
contemporary jazz numbers. The album offers a soulful melody called ‘Rutu yetil Jatil’ sung by Shaan and Janhavi Arora. Shaan has also sung a youthful peppy
number. True to his style and music repertoire, Rahul Ranade has cleverly woven two different musical forms making this a complete musical treat.
Rahul Ranade, Music Director of the film said “The film’s protagonist is a music director who explores music through his childhood inspiration Bhiroba. The
nomadic shepherd community folk essence was very crucial to establish Bhiroba and Veeru’s character. I was extremely excited to amalgamate folk with
contemporary jazz and rock- the two distinctively polar genre of music in Sumbaran. I couldn’t think of a better choice than Shaan for the youthful
compositions, and being close friends with him also helped. Janhavi Arora has a versatile appeal and she has sung exceptionally well. Ajit Parab himself is a
great composer and he has added a fresh flavor to the rhythmic folk song ‘Punvechaya Chandnyat’ which has also been brilliantly sung by renowned folk singer
Nandesh Umap. And finally, the excellent choice of musicians on each composition has made Sumbaran an exclusive album.”
Sumbaran…Soneri Divsanchya Soneri Aathavani is slated to release on November 19, 2010.
Live Chat: Mahesh Bhatt on Oct 6 at 1700 hrs IST
One of the most respected film maker of Bollywood who gave us some rather though provoking films from Arth to Saaransh and Zakhm, never went down with time. In fact like a phoenix he recreated his style of film making and never apologised when people expected him to be what he used to be, that is the godfather of parallel cinema.
After suffering a low period for a while he came back with a blockbuster Murder in 2004 and shook everyone who thought Mahesh could never do a controversial film. Since then he has produced subject based films in Bollywood style, each one with something special to offer and some rather foot tapping music. He is known to be the man to launch a new face and a new story when opportunity calls for it and he is back again with yet another film Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad as a producer. Join this revered Showman only on Bollywood Hungama’s celebrity chat on Wednesday October 6 at 1700 Hrs IST.
Are these the Bigg Boss 4 contestants?
The haunting voice that ordered the 13 inmates saying “Bigg Boss chahte hain …” is back and how! We are indeed referring to the reality show Bigg Boss, which is back with its fourth season. Sources close to Bollywood Hungama told us that, this year, there is a slight change in the format. By now, everyone is aware of the fact that, the popular show, after being ‘shifted’ from Sony TV to Colors channel (which took place last year), will see a brand new host this year – Salman Khan, who has taken over from the legendary Amitabh Bachchan to be the host of ‘Bigg Boss 4′. While Big B has his style of hosting in suits and blazers, Salman will be reportedly seen in a very causal avatar, with his signature language that will connect instantly with the common man as well as the inmates!
One has to give it to the channel for safe guarding the names of the 13 contestants as national treasures. Sources close to us have confessed that they ‘tried their best to get the cat out of the bag’, and this is what they have told us; The most probable 13 contestants this year could be: Dimpy Mahajan, Sneha Ullal, Chunky Pandey, Sangeeta Bijlani, Avika Gor, Rajesh Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Tiwari, Sara Khan, Shaan, Shiney Ahuja, Shweta Tiwary, Simone Singh and Vinod Khanna. The toss is surely between Rajesh Khanna and Jackie Shroff.
There is also a buzz that singer Sukhwinder Singh and the international celebrity Pamela Anderson were approached (amongst many others) but they refused. Till the time the actual list is out, keep guessing!

Tech, media executives debate free vs. paid
ASPEN: Top technology and media executives wrapped up a three-day conference here during which they grappled with — and left unresolved — the question of whether readers will pay for news online.
Firmly in the paid camp in the “paid vs. free” debate was News Corp.”s head of digital operations Jon Miller who said charging online readers is a notion that has been “accepted at a variety of levels.”
“It”s more about how it gets done,” Miller told participants in the Fortune Brainstorm Tech event which ended on Saturday in this Colorado ski resort.
With newspapers and magazines facing competition from free content on the
Web and declining circulation and print advertising revenue, Rupert Murdoch”s News Corp. has been leading the charge to get newspaper readers to pay online.
The Wall Street Journal, a News Corp. title, is currently the only major US newspaper to charge readers for full access to its website and one of the few to buck the trend of eroding circulation.
Another News Corp. paper, Britain”s The Times, erected a pay wall around its website at the beginning of July and Murdoch has said he will eventually do the same at all of the newspapers in his vast stable.
Miller said charging readers is “an idea whose time has come,” but others disagreed including Jimmy Pitaro, Yahoo!”s vice president for media.
“We firmly believe that free is the future,” said Pitaro, whose Yahoo! News is one of the most popular news destinations on the Web.
“The feeling is that when other people are charging they”re kind of driving people to free alternatives,” the Yahoo! executive said.
Pitaro said there were some publications with very strong brands or niche audiences that could get away with charging and cited The Wall Street Journal, which Miller said has attracted more than one million digital subscribers.
Brian Sugar, founder and chief executive of Sugar Inc., which operates a series of sites geared towards women including PopSugar.com and ShopStyle.com, said he had no plans to charge and invited his rivals to do so.
“We love paid… for our competitors,” he said.
“We believe Conde Nast, Time, People, In Style, Glamour — all of them should charge because we”re going to maintain our content as free,” he said.
“We look at our content as a marketing vehicle to grow our audience.”
News Corp.”s Miller also said tablet computers such as Apple”s iPad offered great opportunities for the news industry to develop paid applications.
The iPad and other tablet computers being developed offer “very media rich experiences that I think do allow a re-set, perhaps a do-over for the media industry, a chance to get it right,” Miller said.
Sugar dismissed a belief in applications as a potential saviour for a traditional news industry he said was grasping at straws.
“For content publishers I think like every eight to 12 months there”s the new shiny object you can go to (advertising) agencies with, and I think apps for content companies are currently that,” Sugar said.
“They need something to hang their hat on and the hat is apps,” he said.
Trip Adler, co-founder and chief executive of Scribd, the social publishing and reading website, said charging for content might be possible “if there was a better payment infrastructure on the Web.”
“The current payment systems that work really well on the Web such as iTunes or the Kindle ecosystem have users” credit card numbers, a lot of user
loyalty and it”s really easy to make a purchase,” he said.
“If there was one pan-ecosystem for the entire Web and you could purchase any piece of content for say 25 cents, that I think would dramatically ncrease
sales on many of these websites,” he said.
Yahoo!”s Pitaro said he didn”t believe it would make much of a difference.
“Ease of payment is one component but from my perspective it doesn”t matter how easy it is to pay if your competition is free,” he said.
Fifa WC quarterfinals set for today
JOHANNESBURG: In the Friday”s first match, Brazil will play the Netherlands at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Some are calling this game worthy of a World Cup final. Both teams seem to be in top form before the game.
The Dutch have won all four of their World Cup matches, and Brazil coach Dunga describes them as a very difficult opponent. He says they are a solid team with technical quality and their style of soccer is very similar to South American football.
Brazil is one of four South American teams to reach the final eight.
The five-time World Cup champions will be without midfielder Elano, who scored in each of Brazil”s first two matches. He has been ruled out of the game against the Netherlands after bruising a bone in his right ankle during a victory over Ivory Coast.
But, the Brazilians have so much talent and depth that Elano”s absence is not expected to have much impact. They have won three matches and drawn with Portugal, and are coming off a convincing three-nil victory over South American rival Chile.
The winner of the Brazil-Netherlands match will face either Ghana or Uruguay in the semifinals. Those teams meet in Friday”s second quarterfinal at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
Uruguay, which lifted the World Cup trophy in 1950 and at the inaugural tournament in 1930, is aiming for its first World Cup semifinal appearance in 40 years. “The Black Stars” of Ghana, meanwhile, are bidding to make history for Africa. No African team has ever reached the World Cup semifinals.
Ghana”s Serbian coach, Milovan Rajevac, says the prospect of becoming the first African team to reach the final four will motivate his squad. And Asamoah Gyan, who has a team-leading three World Cup goals for Ghana in South Africa, says “The Black Stars” are delighted to be representing Africa at this stage.
“We are so happy for this qualification because it is so important for we Ghanaians and the whole of Africa,” said Gyan. “We qualified for the 1/16th [Round of 16], that was four years ago in Germany. And this time, we were able to qualify to the quarterfinals. So, I think it is a big achievement for the Black Stars.”
Another member of “The Black Stars,” midfielder Sulley Muntari, says Ghana has much respect for Uruguay.
“They are a very good side – a very, very, very good side. So, we are not going to underrate them. We are just going in to play our football and try our best to win,” said Muntari.
Uruguay features top strikers Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan, who was born into a family of footballers. His father, Pablo, played for Uruguay at both the 1966 World Cup in England and the 1974 World Cup in Germany. Ghana coach Rajevac describes Forlan as a fine player and his team will need to beware of Uruguay”s attacking threat.
