It’s fun time for Katrina Kaif. It looks like she has decided to discard her habitually solemn demeanor to have some serious fun. And if ‘serious fun’ sounds like a contradiction in terms, it nonetheless describes her state of mind to perfection.

Imran Khan, her co-star in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has been “really cool company” for Katrina.

Says a friend of the actress, “Katrina found herself warming up not only to Imran but also to his family Avantika. She felt she was part of a family.”

And the ‘family’ has convinced Katrina to go on stage for what is secretly being termed the ‘Dulhan’ gigs.
Says a source, “The Mere Brother Ki Dulhan producers Yash Raj plan to put Katrina, Imran and Ali Zafar on stage to promote the film. Ali who plays one of the leads asked Katrina if she too would accompany him for the gigs that would take them to several metros. At first Katrina laughed off his suggestion. When Ali was adamant, she wanted to know what she would do on stage. Ali suggested she join him to sing. And Katrina is game.”

As things stand the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan live concerts would be Katrina’s first ever live concerts. Katrina can’t wait.

The Foreign Ministry told the court that around 204 Pakistanis are under captivity in Afghanistan, 15 of whom are detained in Bagram base. Justice Javed Iqbal remarked that scores of Pakistanis were detained as they have no money to pay the fine, and added that had the Supreme Court not asked for, these details would not have been come in limelight. He noted that under Vienna Convention every country is bound to inform about the foreign captives to the concerned country. Justice Javed remarked that under the US law, testimonies could be presented at any stage of the case. Deputy Attorney General Shah Khawar gave plea in this regard that the suggestion to give more details to US came very late.

Legislators of National Panthers Party, a regional political outfit of 552eea9a6eestion Kashmiri Legislators Protest on Autonomy SuggestionIndian Jammu and Kashmir, held a demonstration in the national capital New Delhi against the Working Groups recommendation on autonomy to the state on Friday.
A high level committee, appointed by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, submitted its report to the state chief Omar Abdullah on Wednesday. The panel has recommended consideration of autonomy by the federal government for India’s only Muslim majority province, which has been battling insurgency for the past 20 years.
Protestors insisted that working group’s recommendation on autonomy to the state should not be applied, as it will end the jurisdiction of Supreme Court and election commission of India.
“The motive behind our protest is to spread this message that if this report (working Group’s recommendation on autonomy to the state) is applied then Supreme Court’s jurisdiction will end. If this report ends (is applied) then election Commission of India’s jurisdiction will end. If this is applied then in Jammu and Kashmir all the fundamental rights will end. It is because Jammu and Kashmir has different constitution and India’s constitution is not applicable there,” said Bhim Singh, Chairman of the National Panthers Party, a regional political outfit of Indian Jammu And Kashmir.
The PM’s group, headed by former Supreme Court judge S. Saghir Ahmad, has favored restoring autonomy to the Himalayan state as it enjoyed till 1952, after it acceded to India in 1947.
Kashmir’s ruling National Conference has been championing for autonomy since 2000 when it moved a resolution in the state Assembly to support the demand. The Assembly adopted the resolution.

At Ramzan Dinner Obama Speach On Islam

7e57fb9c20islam At Ramzan Dinner Obama Speach On IslamWASHINGTON : US President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised Islam as an integral part of America, as he feted prominent US Muslims at an Iftar dinner marking the holy fasting month of Ramzan.

“For well over a billion Muslims, Ramadan is a time of intense devotion and reflection,” Obama said, in remarks welcoming his guests in the State Dining Room of the White House.

“Tonight’s Iftar is a ritual that is being carried out this Ramzan at kitchen tables and mosques in all 50 states,” Obama said.

“Islam as we know is part of America. Like the broader American citizenry, the American Muslim community is one of extraordinary dynamism and diversity.

“On this occasion, we celebrate the holy month of Ramzan and we also celebrate how much Muslims have enriched America and its culture in ways both large and small,” the president said.

Among the guests Obama praised was Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir, a first-year student at the University of Memphis who scored more points than any other girl or boy in the history of high school basketball in the state of Massachusetts.

“She recently told a reporter, ‘I would like to inspire a lot of young Muslim girls if they want to play basketball. Anything is possible, they can do it too,’” said Obama, who has a well-known love of the sport.

“Bilquis is an inspiration not simply to Muslim girls, she is an inspiration to all of us.”

The president also recognized the first two Muslim lawmakers in the US Congress, Keith Ellison and Andre Carson.

In a message marking Ramzan last week, Obama pledged “concrete actions” to renew ties with Islamic countries, less than three months after his historic address to the Muslim world in Cairo.

“I want to reiterate my commitment to a new beginning between America and Muslims around the world,” Obama said in a video address posted as the world’s estimated 1.5 billion Muslims prepared for a month of fasting and reflection.

The president, who has Muslim heritage on his father’s side of his family, also pledged “unyielding” support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and to “responsibly end the war in Iraq.”

Islam’s fasting month began last month in most of the Arab world and Iran.
