Peshawar: 9 killed in Swabi Interchange suicide blast
PESHAWAR: At least nine people, including a policeman, have been killed and several others wounded in a suicide bomb blast at a reception arranged for JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal-ur Rehman, near Swabi Interchange, TrendPK reported Wednesday.
Police and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area; the bodies and injured have been taken to Swabi’s district hospital.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman remained safe in the attack.

DHAKA: At least three people were killed and five, including a lawmaker of the ruling party, injured in a suicide bomb attack in Bangladesh on Saturday, police said.
The bomb was detonated at the residence of Afaz Uddin, an Awami League member of parliament, near Khustia, 300 km (190 miles) west of the capital Dhaka.
Police would not say whether they thought the attack was related to Saturday’s widespread violence over the eviction from her home of opposition leader Begum Khaleda Zia. AGENCIES

Blast at Afghan army base in Kabul, one dead

KABUL: An explosion inside an Afghan army base close to Kabul”s airport on Monday killed one soldier and wounded two others, an official said.
An investigation had been launched to determine what caused the explosion, which happened while army soldiers were in a training session involving heavy weapons, Defence Ministry spokesman Zaher Azimi said.
A security source quoting unconfirmed reports said a soldier had carried out a suicide bomb attack, while a Taliban spokesman said the bomber was a member of the insurgent group.

MOGADISHU: Somalia’s sports minister has died in hospital in Saudi Arabia weeks after he was critically wounded in a suicide bombing at a medical graduation ceremony in Mogadishu, relatives and officials said on Saturday.
Saleban Olad Roble passed away on Friday at a hospital in the Saudi capital Riyadh, where he and other victims of the Dec. 3 blast at the Shamo Hotel had been flown for treatment.
Twenty-two people were killed, including three other government ministers — education, higher education and health — and 10 members of Benadir University’s faculty and students.
“We are arranging a state funeral,” Mohamed Ali Nur, Somalia’s ambassador to neighbouring Kenya, told foreign news agency. “We are still not sure whether his body will be carried back from Saudi Arabia. Our condolences go to his family and colleagues.”

Pakistan News: Suicide Attack In Khyber Agency, 18 Killed, At least 18 people
were killed including 11 Khasadars and 7 passersby while 8 others sustained injuries in a suicide bomb blast in Wazir Dhand area of Khyber Agency.
According to sources, a young boy blew himself up near the vehicle of Khasadar force in district Jamrood, killing 18 people.
Security forces cordoned off the area after the blast. The injured has been shifted to nearby hospitals.

BAGHDAD: Police and health officials in the northern Iraqi city of Tal Afar say a suicide bomber killed a local council member and three of his guards.
A police officer in the city says the leader of the local council was driving in a nine-vehicle convoy when a suicide bomber walked up to the convoy and blew himself up Monday.
A doctor at a local hospital confirmed the account. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
Tal Afar is about 90 miles (150 kilometers) east of the Syrian border, in Ninevah province. Insurgents frequently staged bombings there in past years.
