Libya’s future is in hands of the people: Obama

In a statement issued Sunday from Martha s Vineyard, where he s vacationing, Obama said the surest way for the bloodshed to end is for Moammar Gadhafi to relinquish power.

The president said, “The future of Libya is now in the hands of the Libyan people.” The rebels seized control of much of Libya s capital, Tripoli, on Sunday.

Obama s statement came after a Sunday evening conference call with his national security team.

He promised to work in close coordination with the rebels and said the U.S. will “continue to insist that the basic rights of the Libyan people are respected.”

The White House said Obama was briefed Sunday on the latest developments by counterterrorism adviser John Brennan and heard reports from US teams on the ground in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi.

US officials are poised to assist the opposition as the country moves toward democracy, although it wasn t clear Sunday how close such a transition might be.

Bank of Punjab (BoP) Scandal: Police on Sunday arrested Karamdad Bhatti from Hafizabad in the Bank of Punjab (BoP) scandal. The accused is accomplice of Hamesh Khan, the former BoP president and principal accused in a Rs 9 billion loan scandal. The Bank of Punjab (BoP) had granted a loan of Rs 9 billion to the Haris Steel Industries (HSI) without fulfilling the legal requirements and the HSI subsequently defaulted on the loan.

The police claim that Bhatti was a proclaimed offender in the case. On the other hand, Bhatti alleged that his arrest was a violation of the court orders as the Lahore High Court (LHC) had issued a stay order in the case.

He said that his arrest was unlawful and he would resort to the LHC against it. On September 27, 2007, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Punjab, had filed a reference in an accountability court against 12 people, including six officials of the Bank of Punjab and six other accused of Rs 9 billion fraud.

Oscars Only 1 Week Away

This Sunday it will be the 83rd Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The Academy has just announced that Scarlett Johansson and Russell Brand have been added to the lineup of celebrity presenters.

This year’s main hosts will be James Franco (127 Hours) and Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs).

Last year the coveted Best Picture category was expanded to 10 nominees, this year’s big change will see the Special Effects category go from three to five nominations.

The King’s Speech leads the run with a whopping 12 nominations, followed by True Grit with 10, and then 8 nominations for both The Social Network and Inception.

The bubbly “So You Think You Can Dance” hostess says “I hadn’t done any comedy in awhile, though it’s something I remember fondly.” Back in her earlier years of working on TV in the U.K., she performed “topical skits of things that had happened during the week, pastiches of comedy shows.”

The “Shake It Up” part, she says, demanded physical comedy — and contained an even bigger challenge. “I had to play strict and stern. It’s my first character like that, actually — very different for me. I found it difficult to be stern with these kids. They’re so much fun and so talented, they’ll absolutely blow you away, every single one of them. I don’t know how they handle all the demands of the show and also deal with school and agents and everything else they have to do. They’re so good I really did feel a little intimidated,” she says with a laugh.

The storyline has teenage dancer Rocky Blue (Zendaya Coleman) getting the idea that she’ll get more out of life if she hangs up her goodie two shoes image and breaks a few rules. “She’s sick and tired of being the good girl. She bubble wraps my entire office, the phone, everything. When I came in and tripped and fell, I really, really did it,” adds Cat. “I face-landed. I said, ‘Be sure you use that one.’”

Strike in Khuzdar against murder of BNP leader

QUETTA: A shutter-down strike is being observed in Khuzdar district of Balochistan on Monday against the murder of Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Abdul Latif Shehwani.

Shehwani was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Khuzdar on Sunday night.

What Channel is The Vikings Game on Tonight

What Channel is The Vikings Game on Tonight, It’s sad that the Viking’s Metrodome roof collapsed, but the real crime is that the Vikings Giants game is not on TV tonight for most people. The reason as reported by the Baltimore Sun is that Fox and ESPN could not reach an agreement about who would air it. ESPN has the exclusive rights to Monday Night Football, and since the Sunday game is now on Monday, they needed to agree to let Fox broadcast it as they were originally scheduled to do on Sunday. Evidently that did not happen as the game is nowhere to be found on TV tonight. If you are watch the Ravens-Texans game on ESPN, they are giving frequent updates as to the status of the game, but there’s nowhere to watch.

You can listen on ESPN radio, and I’m told that the NFL Network will air the game at midnight tonight, although I don’t get that channel because I’m so lucky as to have Time Warner Cable. However, it will be on NFL.com starting at midnight or as soon as the Ravens-Texans game is over, and be available for 24 hours. That is decent of them!
