J&K Suspends 26 Striking Junior Doctors

SRINAGAR: J&K Suspends 26 Striking Junior Doctors, cracking the whip against striking doctors, J and K government has suspended 26 doctors in training and returned to the services of at least 24 surgeons, assistants and secretaries of health department.

The firm position of the government provoked strong protests from doctors, who threatened mass migration, even when their indefinite strike entered its 20th day.

Health services have been badly affected in the government medical college and several hospitals in Jammu district while emergency services were led by senior doctors.

“By taking serious note of the problems faced by people in different hospitals due to the strike of doctors in training in Jammu and Srinagar, the government placed a 26 physicians under suspension,” said an official spokesman.

He said 11 assistant surgeons were reversed in the department of medical education to the health department.

“In addition, 13 registrars and demonstrators have become the health department,” he said.

The decision was made after the fourth round of talks between the government and the striking doctors to end the stalemate not yesterday.

Meanwhile, doctors Joint Action Committee gherao the secretariat said on Monday.

“The issue of termination of the doctors did not arise as we are planning to migrate voluntarily EnMass” doctors Joint Action Committee (??c) Mehrajuddin, the spokesman said.
