The classic derby between the two biggest clubs in Spain comes just in time to settle things straight at the top of La Liga, where Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been going head to head for a while. If you haven’t been around football recently you would think Los Merengues hold a pretty good chance of deciding this season’s rivalry in their favour: they’ve been topping the league for six rounds straight now – albeit by goal difference only – and they’ll have the whole Santiago Bernabeu to cheer for them on Saturday.
But one quick reality check could send shivers down the spine of any Madrid fan before the epic clash – FC Barcelona has been tremendously powerful lately, with Lionel Messi showcasing the Blaugrana magic any time he touches the ball. With three hat-tricks already in 2010 the Argentine star punched four more against Arsenal on Tuesday night to take Barca one step closer to yet another season of supremacy in Europe. Will they still be riding high after El Clasico? Real Madrid may have the final answer.

Birdie start for Tiger Woods as Mickelson charges
Tiger Woods made an ideal start to the Masters third round on Saturday by rolling in an uphill 20-foot birdie putt at the par-four first hole.
In glorious spring sunshine at Augusta National, the American world number one watched as his putt briefly stopped on the left edge of the cup before dropping in.
Woods punched his right fist in celebration as he moved to seven under overall, one stroke behind overnight pacesetters Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood of Britain, plus American Phil Mickelson.
The 14-times major champion went on to par the 575-yard second to stay at seven under.
Left-hander Mickelson, a double champion at Augusta, birdied the second and also the par-four third to vault into a tie for the lead.
Moments later, though, Westwood rolled in a 12-footer on the first green to snatch the outright lead at nine under.
South Korean KJ Choi, playing with Woods in the penultimate pairing, parred the opening hole to stay at six under, level with American Anthony Kim who offset a bogey at the first with a birdie at the second.
GRIPPING ROUND
The year’s opening major was set for a gripping third round with nine players bunched within five shots of the lead overnight.
Poulter, with a 68, and fellow Englishman Westwood, with a 69, were among only three players who broke 70 on Friday when tricky pin positions, quickening greens and Augusta’s notorious swirling winds posed continual problems for the field.
Most eyes on Saturday, however, were focused on Woods in his bid to become the first player to launch his season with a major victory since fellow American Ben Hogan clinched the 1953 Masters.
Playing his first tournament in nearly five months after his double life was exposed at the end of last year, the American produced remarkable form in the first two rounds at Augusta.
An opening 68, which could have been three or four shots better with a red-hot putter, silenced all the doubts about a rusty start and Woods is now perfectly poised to push on for a 15th major title.
