GHOTKI: A three year old girl has been tested positive for polio in Ghotki on Thursday.

During a meeting headed by DCO Abdul Aziz Uqaili, it has been told that polio has been detected in three year old girl, Subhana, in a nearby village of Ghotki.

Till date, total nine complains have been received about the polio victim children of Ghotki and its outskirts.

The meeting decided to launch a three days anti-polio campaign from November 8 to 10. Trend Pk

Surge in the number of dengue patients continued across the country as another 45 affectees have been brought to the hospitals in the last 24 hours in Punjab alone, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours a staggering number of 183 patients have been tested positive for dengue fever, raising the total figure of dengue affected patients to a whopping 1,700.
Eleven more cases from cities other than Lahore have also been reported, pushing up the number of patients suffering from dengue fever to 1,359. Fumigation is underway across the country.

Dengue fever kills two more in Karachi, Faisalabad

KARACHI: Dengue fever has claimed another two lives in Karachi and Faisalabad, SAMAA reported Monday.

According to reports, a 27-year-old patient succumbed to the deadly virus at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital on Monday, bringing the dengue death toll 17.

Sindh’s Health Minister Dr. Saghir Ahmed has confirmed that 49 people have tested positive for dengue across Sindh.

During the last two months, 3,054 people were admitted to various hospitals across the country with dengue symptoms. Out of these, 213 patients are still under medical care.

Another patient also died after suffering from dengue in Faisalabad. This was the first dengue case in Faisalabad.

According to Health Department sources, a fumigation drive will be undertaken in the Dengue-hit affected area. SAMAA

KARACHI: Two people died of dengue fever in Lahore and Hyderabad and another 152 patients tested positive for the deadly mosquito-borne disease in different hospitals of Karachi over the past 24 hours.

Failing to take timely preventive measures against the outbreak, the Punjab government on Saturday replaced EDO Health Dr. Fayyaz Ranjha with Dr. Umar Farooq.

With no known treatment, dengue fever is spreading fast in Asia, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO has warned that 2.5 billion people are at risk from one of the world’s fastest-emerging infections, which has “grown dramatically in recent decades.”

LAHORE: The government has not taken appropriate measures as more than 50 patients have tested positive for dengue in Lahore, SAMAA reported Wednesday.

The Punjab Institute of Public Health has confirmed 37 patients dengue positive.

Sources said that several students, including those from Engineering University are among the victims.

Most of the patients are from Dharampura, Singhapura, Gulberg and Samanabad.

The provincial Health Secretary has received a plan from the Punjab Institute of Public Health to counter the outbreak of dengue, steps have yet to be taken.

Expressing concern, the locals have said that the figure can rise if concerned authorities do not take proper measures immediately. SAMAA

Meanwhile, according to health officials, four more people have tested positive for swine flu in the state, taking the total number of people infected with the swine flu virus to 292, out of which 42 have died.

Hemlata Rajvat (40), hailing from Gandhigham in Kutch district, died at the civil hospital here, they said. She was admitted to the hospital on November 7.

Another woman — Bhanuben Pariya (30) — from Sirohi district of Rajasthan, who was admitted to V S Hospital here, succumbed to the disease earlier in the day.
