Cabinet to ratify draft of 20th Amendment Bill today

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet is going to approve on Tuesday draft of the 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill before it is tabled in the National Assembly, TrendPK reports.
Sources say approval of the draft is on cabinet’s agenda when it will meet with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in chair, after which the bill will be tabled in today’ session of the lower house.
The bill validates election of 28 lawmakers in by-polls in light of the Supreme Court orders which suspended membership of the MNAs and MPAs over fake entries in electoral rolls, making passage of the bill mandatory for the affected legislators.
Separately, the National Assembly session will be held today for a debate and approval of the draft following its ratification from the cabinet.
Sources said all the coalition parties as well as PPP have directed their members not to miss the debate. It is much on the cards that the session will be adjourned for an indefinite period after endorsement of the bill. TrendPK
Aitzaz, Awan file papers for Senate elections

LAHORE: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party leaders, Aitzaz Ahsan and Babar Awan, on Tuesday filed their nomination papers to Election Commission of Pakistan for upcoming Senate elections, TrendPK.
After being nominated by their parties, candidates form all major political factions are filing their papers today to ECP’s regional offices as Tuesday is the last date of submission.
“I have filed my papers today. Thanks to President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP’s Parliamentary Board for my selection as candidate,” said Aitzaz who is also Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s lawyer in contempt of court case.
Talking to newsmen alongside Babar Awan after submitting papers, he vowed to strive for supremacy of law and dignity of the legislator, predicting that “there is no threat to the Parliament”.
Awan said on the occasion that “PPP is the name of a movement, not a party…It’s a vital era when we are experiencing a civilian supremacy.” TrendPK
Text messages help quitting smoking

A new study found that text messages are a very convenient way for smokers to receive support to quit.
People trying to quit smoking are twice as likely to give up if they receive a text message encouraging them. Smokers described text to stop smoking like having a friend encouraging them. It helps people resist the temptation to smoke. British doctors recruited 5,800 smokers and randomly assigned them either to a group that received specially-tailored SMS. Smokers in the control group received bland SMSes every fortnight whereas the other group received encouraging messaging to quit smoking. After six months, 10.7 percent in the SMS support group had been continuously sober, but this was only 4.9 percent in the control group. Thus the study concluded that encouraging texts can be very helpful for the smoker to quit.
HIV-infected patients in Kenya who received text reminders about taking daily AIDS drugs were 12 percent likelier to achieve full adherence to their drug as compared to their counterpart.

After the news first broke of Tigers’ affairs with more than a dozen women, James, whose real name is Veronica Siwik-Daniels, tearfully demanded an apology from Woods as her attorney, Gloria Allred stood by her side. James said she fell in love with the golf pro, and claims that he impregnated her twice.

Is reporting that cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs has told Us Weekly that she had a 31-month affair with Tiger Woods. Grubbs, 24 and best known for her stint on VH1’s “Tool Academy,” claims to have voicemails and text messages to corroborate her story of an affair.
According to Us Weekly, Grubbs has more than 300 text messages from Tiger — who married Elin Nordegren in 2004.
The magazine, which comes out tomorrow, claims Grubbs had 20 sexual encounters with Tiger.
On Wednesday UsMagazine.com promises to post a voicemail Woods left Grubbs. In the voicemail, he supposedly tells Jaimee that he suspects his wife Elin knows about his affair.
