Hunza affectees try to dig water spillway wider

HUNZA: Some of the victims of Attabad Lake Thursday came out with spades to dig the water spillway wider to allow quick flow of water from the landslide-created lake.

Meanwhile, DC Hunza Zafar Waqar warned of legal action if the above activity led to any kind of damage.

Water continued to flow into Attabad Lake and out through the spillway, as the affectees staged a protest against the administration at Aliabad on Karakorum Highway.

The protesters complained that the administration instead of making a wide nullah only dug a narrow drainage from which water is flowing out at a slow pace. The demonstrators from Attabad broke through the police cordon to reach the spillway where victims from different areas of Gojal district who arrived there on boat joined them.

The victims managed to reach the scene despite closure of boat service and started plowing the spillway with spades and other tools they brought along with them.

35 FC men still missing in Mohmand: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: DG ISPR Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas Thursday said 35 FC personnel are still missing in Mohmand Agency while 14 security men who crossed Afghan border have been handed over to Pakistan and are on their way back.

Talking to A Geo News correspondent Asim Ali Rana, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said the FC men were in chase of terrorists when they entered through Afghan border.

He said a total of 60 personnel were taking part in Mohmand Agency operation, of which 11 had already returned while 14 men who went across Afghan border are being flown back in a helicopter.

The DG ISPR said that the 14 FC personnel who crossed the Afghan border were handed over to Pakistan at Jalalabad.

Indian extremists’ bid to have Shakil Siddiqui off TV show

KARACHI: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has threatened TV channel Sony of dire consequences if it did not take Pakistani comedian Shakeel Siddiqui off its laughter show immediately.

The association has sent a threat letter to the channel at its office in Malad. Demanding immediate removal of Siddiqui from its show the letter threatened the channel that it will be difficult for it to air its programmes in Maharahstra if it does not heed to the diktat.

This is not the first time that the MNS has taken law into their hands. The party has a notorious reputation of flouting laws and forcing its diktats in the state.

3 killed at Pak-Afghan Border: Zhob

37a4943659rzhob 3 killed at Pak Afghan Border: ZhobZHOB, Pakistan News: At least three Pakistanis were killed by Afghan security personnel while crossing the Pak-Afghan border near district of Zhob (Balochistan).

Officials say that all the three were unintentionally crossing the border and entered into Afghan area, the Afghan security forces opened the fire killing all three on spot.

Dead bodies are still said to in possession of Afghan security forces where as no contact had been made with the Pakistani Officials, the channel added.
