Israel unwilling for establishing peace in region, says Bashar Ul Asad

Members of the Elders’ Group delegation on Tuesday demanded that Israel should lift its unjust siege on Gaza Strip, stressing the necessity of achieving the Palestinian reconciliation and engaging all the Palestinian factions in peace efforts.
The remarks came during President al-Assad’s meeting with the Group of Elders delegation headed by Former Irish President Mary Robinson with the participation of Former US President Jimmy Carter, Former UN Assistant Secretary General Al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi and Indian activist Ila Bat.
President al-Assad also warned against the serious impacts of the racist so-called citizenship law.The President explained Syria’s vision to solve the problems of the region, and was briefed by the delegation on their visit to Gaza Strip and tour of the region where they witnessed the tragic situation of the Palestinian People due to the inhuman Israeli siege imposed on them.
In a press conference following her meeting with President Bashar al-Assad held at the Four Seasons Hotel, former Irish President Mary Robinson described the meeting as very fruitful, pointing out that the main goal of the delegation’s visit is to help in achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region.
She made clear that focus should be placed not only on the peace process in itself but on the results in order for the people to feel them, describing what they saw in Gaza as a shock.

US envoy calls on MQM leaders

US Ambassador N.W. Patterson visited Nine Zero in Karachi to condole the demise of Dr. Imran Farooq.
The US delegation led by Patterson visited Nine Zero where it met the Deputy Convener of MQM Coordination Committee Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal and Nasreen Jalil. She condoled with the party members and family members of late Imarn Farooq. MQM also informed the delegation about its concerns over Altaf Hussains security. Sattar informed the US representatives about nations stance and reaction over Dr. Aafias verdict. Patterson assured of her serious efforts in regard with Dr. Aafias case.

Terrorists may attack foreign missions, nationals: CID

ISLAMABAD: An unknown militant group ‘Fidain Jihad’ is planning to carry out terrorist attack in Lahore and federal capital, says a circular issued by the Crime Investigation Department of Punjab on Sunday.

It said the militant group belonging to Darra Adamkhel has assigned its trained fighters to target foreign nationals, offices and foreign missions in Islamabad and Lahore.

According to the circular, the code names of four alleged terrorists are Qari Nasrullah, Alamzeb, Sardar Khan Mujahid and Hidayatullah.

It further disclosed that one suicide bomber of this group will particularly target the minorities.

The law enforcement agencies have been directed to make foolproof security arrangements to foil the terror plot.

Administrators prolonged stay to halt development: Dr. Sattar

KARACHI: Deputy Convener MQM’s Rabitta Committee, Dr. Farooq Sattar Sunday expressed fear that the process of development will derail if the administrators remained appointed at local level for an indefinite period.

He was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of uplift works here at Ranchor Line.

Dr. Farooq Sattar said the local bodies set up must remain intact, stressing that elections be held within the specified timeframe.

He said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah should not have any objection to the delegation of power of collection of property, motor vehicle and sales tax to the district governments.

He was of the view that a MNA and MPA belonging to Karachi should be made part of the board of directors of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).

Indian Water Commission would carry out site inspection of Pakistan’s rivers today.

A 3-member delegation of the Indian Indus Commissioner led by Mr J Oranganathan arrived here the other day. The delegation would inspect Baloki Barrage in Pattoki, and then visit the Sidhanai headworks. Tonight, the delegation would stay at Khanewal and go to Pakpattan tomorrow after inspecting the Islam headworks at Sutlej and would return to India on Tuesday after visiting Head Sulemanki.

23 terrorists killed in operation Rah-e-Nijaat

9c2e40930150x131 23 terrorists killed in operation Rah e NijaatWAZIRISTAN, Pakistan news : The security forces killed 23 terrorists in the past 24 hours in Operation Rah-e Nijat, said the ISPR Thursday.

In the process, five army officials were killed and eight others were injured.

In Jhandola and Gharasar area of Sararogha, five terrorists were killed in a skirmish. One security official was also killed.

A large amount of weapons and explosives have been found from Shakai and Kanigaram areas of Ladha, Satta, Mangorasar, Narakai, Gholait Keli, Torom and Shabi Khel.

In Langar Khel, 14 terrorists were killed and five security officials were martyred. Seven others were injured.

The forces are strengthening their position in South of Makeen. They have established a checkpost at Zahidullah Gharyoum and have started patrolling. Here, they have also started action against the terrorists in Darra Algaid.

They forces have control over the Roga village, where three terrorists were killed in a skirmish.

Tamil Nadu MPs to visit Sri Lanka on Saturday

Colombo: A delegation of 10 parliamentarians from Tamil Nadu is to leave for Sri Lanka on Saturday on a mission to get a first-hand account of the conditions at the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in the North.

The delegation of MPs led by the DMK party leader T. R. Baalu will be in Sri Lanka till October 14.

The Central government of India has cleared the delegation’s visit following a representation made to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi by the MPs of the Congress, the DMK and the VCK, Indian media reported.

The delegation intends to ask the Sri Lankan government to take immediate steps for rehabilitating the IDPs and to stop the alleged killing of Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Besides Mr. Baalu the delegation is represented by DMK members T K S Elangovan, A K S Vijayan, Helen Davidson and TN Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi. N S V Chithan, Sudarshan Naachiappan, J M Haroon and K S Alagiri of the Congress party and Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan are also included in the delegation.
