Kalam floods sweep away 8 hotels, over 300 houses
MINGORA: The worst floods and rains in living memory have destroyed over 300 houses and 8 hotels in Kalam – Swat’s badly hit area, Geo News reported Saturday.
The collapse of connecting bridge to the Kalam valley and difficult terrain has left 8000 people stranded.
Pak Army continued its rescue and relief effort today besides shifting people to the safer places.
The inflow of floodwater into Swat river added devastating force to the water flow, eroding land on both sides which resulted in the demolition of 8 hotels located on both sides of the river besides destroying over 300 houses.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan News: PPC Issues CCTV Footage of Suicide Attack, The closed circuit television (CCTV) footage of the suicide attack at Peshawar Press Club yesterday has been released on Wednesday.
The footage released by the police shows that the attacker detonated his explosives as he was stopped at the gate of the press club.
In Tuesday attack at Peshawar Press Club four persons were killed and 23 others were injured 16 of which were discharged from hospital after first aid. Six injured were still under treatment in Lady Reading hospital of Peshawar.
The funeral prayers of Mian Iqbal Shah, a staffer of the press club, were offered here today.
The newsmen have announced three-day mourning after the attack.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: French Defence Chief Meets COAS, French Chief of Defence Staff General Jean-Louis Georgelin has called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani at Army Headquarters, here on Wednesday.
Issues of mutual interest and cross border terrorism were discussed in the meeting.

Three-day Ban on Pillion Riding in Punjab
Pakistan News: Slashing the five day ban, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed three-day ban on pillion riding from 8 till 10th of Muharrum-ul-Harram.
The CM called for utilization of all resources to promote religious harmony and added proper monitoring to enforce the pillion riding ban.
Earlier, speaking in another gathering, the CM directed to jazz up the demolition drive against illegal plazas in Lahore, and said that no influence or approach would be entertained in this regard.
He also gave directives to initiate a crackdown against wall chalking across the province.
