5.7 magnitude earthquake hits different areas of Sindh, Balochistan

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit different areas of Balochistan and Sindh including Karachi at 6:15 am. People left their houses by reciting Kalma Taiyeba.

According to Met Office, the epicenter of the earthquake was located near Kharaan area of Balochistan which was recorded 5.7 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake jolts were also recorded in Qalat, Khuzdar, Shahdadkot and the surrounding areas.

ISLAMABAD: A moderate earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Islamabad, Peshawar and upper parts of the country early Monday morning.

There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to the Meteorological Department, quake tremors were felt at 5:55am in Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbotabad, Mardan, Hazara, Skardu, Kurram Agency, Khyber Agency and Malakand Division.

It said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 119 kilometers north of Peshawar. Trend Pk

Sorab: Earthquake jolts continue, locals await govt. aid

In two Union Councils of Sorab, Moli Lakoriyan and Tarozai Jatakabad, the jolts of earthquake have not stopped since two and a half months and thousands of people are living under the clear sky, waiting for aid from government.
These aftershocks continued from two and a half months, have damaged more than 800 houses. Provinvial Interior Minister Mir Zafar Zehri announced an aid of 10 million rupees which was handed over to the district government but seven days passed and still the funds and relief goods never reached the earthquake affectees. Women and small children of this area are facing lots of problems as well; where as 6 children are not in stable condition due to severe cold weather. No representative of government or public sector has also visited this area so far. DC Kalat says that he has been posted; where as till the next DC is appointed; the affectees lives are in danger.

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake rocked northern areas of the country while five girl students got injured in a roof collapse in Shabqadar, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
The epicentre was 280kms from Peshawar towards the north east in the Hindukush range at the Afghan-Tjik border.
The earthquake has been felt in Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbotabad, Murree, Muzaffarabad, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
In Shabqadar, a stampeded ensued the earthquake at Government Girls High School Subhan Khor while 5 girls also wounded after roof of the school caved in.

Haiti cholera toll tops 200, quake camps at risk

PORT-AU-PRINCE: The death toll from a cholera epidemic in central Haiti topped 200 on Saturday as the government and its aid partners doubled efforts to stop the disease from reaching the crowded, earthquake ravaged capital.

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of 5.3 magnitudes has jolted many parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Peshawar and Muzaffarabad on Monday morning.

According to details, at about 2:45 am local time earthquake took place mostly in those areas which were devastated by a major earthquake on October 8, 2005.

Tremors were felt in the northern and upper regions of the country, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawal Kot, Taxila, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar and Hazara Division.

People, harassed by the sudden shocks of earth quake, came out of their houses and started to recite verses of Holy Quran under fear.

After the earthquake, a light rain started to shower in Islamabad which turned local cold weather into further colder. SAMAA

Quake jolts Islamabad, Peshawar and Kashmir

Severe jolts of earthquake were felt in Islamabad, Peshawar, Haripur, Muzzafarabad and Balakot.
According to meteorological department, the earthquake jolts were felt at around 2:46 am. The center of earthquake was 20 Km from Islamabad towards North-West between Khanpur and Haripur Hazara. The intensity of earthquake was measured to be 5.3 on the Richter scale. Most of the people came out of their houses due to fear; however there were no reports of any kind of casualties or building damages. Right after the earthquake, rainfall began in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
