‘Ali Baba 40 thieves joined govt to rob country: Shahbaz
Talking to the media, the chief minister said that the Ali Baba 40 thieves are now planning to grab billions of rupees of EOBI, adding that accused of NICL, Punjab Bank, rental power and Hajj scandals were also active now. He stated that no corruption would be tolerated in the Punjab. He stated that PM Gilani and Raza Rabbani wanted to transfer ministries to the provinces but some non-democratic elements were creating hurdles.
He said that the federation owe Rs 70 billion to the provinces.
The CM also test-drove the vehicles to be provided under the yellow cab scheme. He selected green colour for the scheme cabs. Shahbaz also directed the representative of the company to improve the quality of the vehicles.

NRO review: federation allowed to file amended apeal
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has allowed the federation to file an amended appeal for NRO verdict review after the government assured the bench that it would remove the word, which invited the SC”s objection.
Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan heard the appeal filed against SC”s registrar office objection over government’s review appeal for NRO review.
Distance between Lahore and Larkana is increasing: Soomro
Law Minister for Sindh, Ayaz Soomro has said that distance is increasing between Lahore and Larkana; however if this happens, the federation will become weak.
Addressing a news conference in Nawabshah, Aya Soomro said that Supreme Court takes notice of all matters by itself. So why does not it takes notice of incidents such as 12th May and 9th April. He said that target killing in Karachi is a political matter and the government is working to eradicate it. The leaders and workers of Peoples Party are patiently waiting and do not want to end the democracy of martyrs.
Dual office case: LHC issues notice to President
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday issued a notice to President Asif Ali Zardari in the dual office case.
During the hearing of dual office case, Deputy Attorney General told the court that in the petition President Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, PM Gilani and Speaker National Assembly are made a party, and added that the notice were issued to the federation.Expressing displeasure over this, Justice Umar Ata Bandial addressed the DAG representing the federation you must know that president is the symbol of federation.The court said that the notice should be implemented via the presidents principal secretary. The court adjourned the hearing till May 27.
President To Sign NFC Award Today
President Asif Ali Zardari will sign the NFC award today which was finalised with concensus between the federation and provinces. According to Presidency sources, the prime minister, chief ministers of all four provinces, governors, finance ministers, federal and provincial ministers and other key persons are specially invited in the ceremony. The president will address the participants after the signing of NFC award.
Dubai Gets $10B From Abu Dhabi to Cover Debt
DUBAI: Dubai’s government says it has received $10 billion in emergency funds from oil-rich neighbor Abu Dhabi that will go toward paying debts owed by its struggling Dubai World conglomerate.
Some $4.1 billion of the money will be used to pay off a pile of debt from Dubai World’s Nakheel property division that comes due Monday.
Dubai’s ability to repay those funds had been seen as a key test of the debt-laden emirate’s creditworthiness.
The UAE central bank, based in the federation’s capital Abu Dhabi, also says it is prepared to provide support to local banks.

Consensus Over 7th NFC Award Reached
LAHORE, Pakistan News : The four provinces have reached a consensus on the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award here on Friday.
The decision was made at a meeting attended by chief ministers of the four provinces. The issue of NFC Award had been lingering on for 19 years which has now been resolved with unanimity and an accommodating approach of the provinces.
However, the federation has made historic sacrifices over the division of national resources among the provinces.
