US ties with India and Pakistan no ‘zero sum’ game

WASHINGTON: The White House insisted Wednesday that its bid to court India would not come at the expense of Pakistan, or vice versa, a week before President Barack Obama heads to Mumbai and New Delhi.

Tensions have been high in recent weeks between Washington and its anti-terror ally, but officials said that Obama decided to bypass Pakistan on the forthcoming trip purely to devote “proper” time to a visit in 2011.

“The president believes that the US relationship with India and the US relationship with Pakistan does not take place within a kind of zero-sum dynamic,” said Ben Rhodes, a deputy national security advisor.

“It’s often been viewed that way in the past, that if we become closer to one, it’s at the expense of the other.

“We’ve tried to send the signal that it’s the opposite with this administration.”

Himesh’s Kajraare releases with morning shows in just 2 theatres

8f89ac8e86jrare1.jpg Himeshs Kajraare releases with morning shows in just 2 theatresThese days marketing and promoting a film extensively before its release has become almost mandatory. Hence, we were completely taken by surprise when we got to know that the forthcoming Himesh Reshammiya starrer Kajraare has released today (15 Oct) without any fanfare. Yes…you heard it right, Kajraare has released in just 2 cinema halls across India, namely New Empire in Mumbai and Apollo in Pune and that too with just one matinee show at each of these theatres.

There is no denying the fact that after Box Office disasters such as Karzzzz and Radio, Himesh’s market value has taken a beating. However, despite that, no one expected a big budget film like Kajraare to release all of a sudden and that too with morning shows in just 2 cinema halls.

Kajraare is directed by Pooja Bhatt and produced by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar. Why the makers have taken such a sudden and shocking decision is something which remains a mystery as all attempts to contact anyone closely associated with the film proved to be futile.

‘Knock Out’ has been shifted to 1st Oct.

bd837ef5baockout Knock Out has been shifted to 1st Oct.

The forthcoming weeks are choc-a-bloc with new releases. If you glance at our ‘Release Dates’ chart [which is updated every week without fail], you will notice that in several weeks, two or more films will be vying for public attention, which, frankly, cannot be helped either, given the flow of new films in the forthcoming days.

Initially, Karan Johar’s WE ARE FAMILY, Arbaaz Khan’s first production DABANGG and Sohail Maklai’s KNOCK OUT were confirmed for 10th September [Eid week]. But Sohail Maklai has decided to shift his film ahead by three weeks, which means that KNOCK OUT, starring Sanjay Dutt, Irrfan and Kangna Ranaut, will now arrive on 1st October.

Confirms Sohail, “Had KNOCK OUT released in the Eid week, we wouldn’t have got Sanju’s dates to promote the film, since he’s shooting out of town. By shifting the film ahead, we are not merely avoiding clashing with two major films, but will also have actors devoting ample time to promote and market our film.” Wise move indeed!
