Gas tariff to be increased before Eid

In applications given to OGRA, Sui Northern demanded an increase of Rs 22. 48 per MMBTU, while Sui Southern demanded Rs 22.35 per MMBUT.

The companies are of the view to increase the revenues; the increase in tariff is inevitable. Sui Northern says an additional revenue of Rs 13.65 billion is needed while Sui Northern demanded Rs 0.93 billion.

The companies also demanded the expenditures of elected representatives’ schemes. The OGRA has already increased the gas tariff by 13.55 percent.

PIA increases Haj fares by 6 percent

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced 6 percent increase in Haj fares. The cost of ticket from Karachi to Jeddah will be Rs. 72000 now.

The PIA made this decision due to the increase in fuel cost and decrease in Pakistani currency’s worth.

The summary to increase Umrah fares by Rs. 3000 has also been sent to the government, which is likely to be approved, according to the sources. TrendPK

Opposition walks out of senate against increase in petroleum prices

The opposition parties staged a symbolic walk out from the senate session against the recent increase in the petroleum prices as well as against the inflation whereas the coalition partners MQM and ANP also criticized the governments decision, Dunya News reported on Monday.
JUI (F) Senator Ismael Balidi also participated in the walk out against the increase in prices. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri said that despite the fact that MQM is in coalition their party was not taken into confidence on the increase in the petroleum prices. Haji Adeel of ANP said that the increase would cause a significant rise in inflation that would affect the masses devastatingly.
Aggression was also witnessed between the members of MQM and ANP on the situation of Karachi. Senator Safdar Abbasi also criticized the governments policies while fateha was offered for the ex-President Farooq Ahmed Khan Laghari (late).

2 % increase in power tariff expected from Nov

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to increase two percent in power tariff from November 1, Trend Pk learnt Sunday evening.

The government has increased about 90 percent in power tariff in last one and half year and the recent raise is being held on the orders of IMF.

Sources from ministry of water and power told that 20 percent more increase is also expected by next June, according to the wishes of IMF.
