ABU DHABI: Skipper Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in the opening Twenty20 international at Zayed International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Johan Botha leads South Africa in the two consecutive Twenty20s, after which Graeme Smith takes over as skipper for the five one-day internationals and two tests.
South Africa is fresh off a 3-0 win in ODIs and 2-0 win in Twehty20s against Zimbabwe. SAMAA
CWG: Pak boxer Wasim in quarter-final
Pakistans boxer Muhammed Wasim cruised into the quarter final of Commonwealth Games boxing competition. Wasim defeated Sri Lankan boxer Tennakoon Chaminda in 49-kg Category with 11-5 points today on the fourth day of competitions underway in New Delhi. Pak boxer got walkover in first bout.
Australian Andrew Moloney also made it the last-eight as he proved too good for Paul Kava of Solomon Islands, the referee stopping the contest in the opening round.
CWG 2010: Olympic body President Rogge arrives in India
International Olympic Committees president Jacques Rogge has arrived in India on Saturday to attend the grand opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games.
Rogge reached Delhi Airport, along with his wife, chief staff and 20 senior officials and was taken to the hotel under strict security. He would attend the opening ceremony as a chief guest. He would also likely to meet with the delegations participating in the event and review the games venue and the Village erected to accommodate the players.
