Minister for Interior Affairs Rehman Malik had a meeting with Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman in which he gave President Zardaris message to Maulana. Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman simply refused upon taking back his decision of separating from the government.
Rehman Malik said that no need to give any application for obtaining the opposition benches because if you join the opposition, then it will cause problems for us in the Senate. In reply to this, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman said that I will present your requests in front of my party and it will be brought under discussion on 22nd December 2010 during a party meeting. He also said that now it is not possible for me to take back this decision. Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman also said that we have separated from government on the basis of some rules and regulations. He said that we are still waiting for the decision of MQM and PML-Q.

EU wants deeper ties with Bangladesh

BRUSSELS: European Union President Herman Van Rompuy held talks Thursday with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and called for tighter cooperation on human rights, terrorism and nuclear issues.
“The cooperation between the EU and Bangladesh is excellent,” Van Rompuy said in a statement after the meeting in Brussels, calling for the two sides to “deepen” their relationship.
“I particularly appreciated Bangladesh’s constructive and proactive role both regionally and on the world stage,” he said.
“As democracies with shared values, I underlined that we would like to work more closely with Bangladesh on issues such as human rights, non proliferation and the fight against terrorism.”

EU exec says Irish 2011 budget key to EU/IMF aid plan

BRUSSELS: The adoption of the Irish 4-year austerity programme and the 2011 budget in particular is key for the EU/IMF financial support programme for Dublin now under negotiations, the European Commission said on Tuesday.
“The 4-year plan and the 2011 budget are fundamental elements in the current discussions,” Commission spokesman Amadeu Altafaj told a regular news briefing. “It is very important that this budget is passed in parliament.”
Ireland’s government was on a knife-edge on Tuesday with Prime Minister Brian Cowen challenging the opposition to let an austerity budget pass and trigger an EU/IMF bailout before early elections.
Amid public fury over the way he handled the rescue, Irish media said Cowen may face calls to resign immediately or turn over leadership of his Fianna Fail party before the next election at a meeting of party lawmakers later on
