ICC uphold spot-fixing suspensions on Pakistani duo

DUBAI: Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir had their provisional suspensions over allegations of spot-fixing upheld by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday.
“I have decided to dismiss the application… all three players accordingly are still for the time being unable to participate in cricketing activities ” Michael Beloff, the head of the ICC’s code of conduct commission told reporters in Dubai on Sunday after a two-day hearing.
The innocence or guilt of the players, who have denied any wrongdoing, will be judged at an independent tribunal, the date of which has yet to be set. AGENCIES
Four players off to London for Test inclusion
KARACHI: Four Pakistani players have flown off to London this morning including two-to-be debutants, being hopeful to seek inclusion in Test squad against England and Australia series.
Players included Test player Yasir Hameed, Tanvir Ahmed, Azhar Ali and Zulqurnain Haider.
Yasir Hameed played his last Test match against Indian in 2007 while Zulqurnain Haider played a T20 international against South Africa in the same year.
Azhar Ali and Tanveer Ahmed will be debutant players.
Before departure at airport, the players were of the view that they were hopeful of putting up good show in Test series given awarded a chance.
Akhter, Malik shirk media eye at NCA
LAHORE: Fast bowler Shoaib Akhter and former captain Shoaib Malik have reached National Cricket Academy (NCA) to give fitness test.
Both the players have refused to give fitness test in front of media. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also directed the media to leave the Academy. The selection of the both the players for Asia Cup depends upon fitness test.
Pak cricket team training camp begins tomorrow
LAHORE: The training camp of the Pakistan cricket team in preparation of the Twenty20 World Cup will begin tomorrow in Lahore.
The players included in the squad reported at the camp.
Pakistan team with its new coach and new captain will begin its preparations for the T20 World Cup.
The five reserve players will also take part in the camp along with the selected 15 players of the team while eight more players from the 30 probables have also been invited for practice at the camp.
According to the PCB spokesman, first a detailed meeting of the players and the management will be held before the camp begins in the morning and the practice schedule will be finalized.
Later, the players will do net practice from 3-00 pm to 6-00 pm.
Coach Waqar Younis will address at the news conference during the camp.
