The Sri Lankan selection committee headed by Arvinda de Silva has put their resignation to sports minister. The action was done after Sangakkara steps down from captaincy and Mahela Jayewardene also resigned from vice captaincy.

Justice (R) Qazlabash refuses to be member of judicial commission

Newly appointed member of the judicial commission Justice (R) Ali Hussain Qazlabash has refused to work as the member, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
It has been learnt that Justice (R) Qazlabash has refused to work as the member of the commission due to his bad health. Justice (R) Qazlabash has said that he is a heart patient and needs rest therefore he would not be able to continue with the new appointment whereas on the other hand the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has accepted the resignation of Justice (R) Qazlabash.

Khosa likely to defend govt. in NRO review case

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has accepted the resignation of Senator Latif Khosa as Advisor on Information Technology.

Khosa is now likely to defend the government in the NRO review case hearing, set to take place on Wednesday in the Supreme Court.

According to sources, Khosa could appear before the Supreme Court as a new government’s counsel in place of Kamal Azfar, who was made the Prime Minister’s adviser.

Awan to convey govt stand on Swiss cases today

ISLAMABAD: A five-judge larger bench of the Supreme Court will begin from Tuesday (today) hearing of the case pertaining to non-implementation of the apex court’s verdict on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

The SC larger bench headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk summoned Law Minister Babar Awan for explaining the government’s position on failing to write to Swiss authorities for reopening the money laundering cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.

The apex court had announced its verdict on NRO on December 16, 2009 but the government has so far failed to take action on it and consequently creating an atmosphere which led to the resignation of an attorney general and a law secretary.

The SC on the occasion of hearing of the case relating to NRO implementation has put in place extraordinary security measures. Special passes have been issued for entering SC premises and into the court room.

CCTV cameras have also been installed in the vicinity of the SC to avert any untoward incident.

Economy Getting Stabilized, Claims Prime Minister Gilani

Prime Minister Gilani has claimed that the state economy is getting stable, which has resulted into return of the investors’ trust.
The PM stated these views during the Economic Coordination Council (ECC) meeting, which was held in Islamabad today.
Sources said the meeting deliberated upon the imposition of regularity duty on chemical products, Port Qasim Navigation Channel’s extension and establishment of polythene plant. It is the first ECC meeting after the resignation of former finance minister Shaukat Tarin.
Addressing the meeting, the PM said that the implementation of the cabinet decision would be ensured, adding that all the decisions would be taken in country’s larger interests. He assured that significant uplift goals would be achieved within two years, adding that the reserves are at satisfactory level.

Vinny Cerrato Resigns Breaking news :- Vinny Cerrato resigns as Redskins executive vice-president.

Vinny Cerrato, the much-maligned Washington Redskins executive vice-president of football operations, resigned this morning, nearly two years after becoming the organization’s de facto general manager.

The timing of the resignation is strange, but what else would you expect from the Redskins front office? It likely means that Snyder has a beat on Mike Holmgren or Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan and wants to strike now while he still can. Dragging his feet is only going to lead to getting a guy he doesn’t really want, sort of like what happened two years ago when he was forced to hire Jim Zorn against his will.

What this means for Zorn is anyone’s guess. Cerrato hired him so you’d figure this would be it for him, but if Holmgren comes to D.C., could he play Parcells to Zorn’s Tony Sparano?

Those are all questions for later though. For now, all Redskins fans need to care about is the fact that Vinny Cerrato is finally gone.

Mehdi had announced to resign in an organizational meeting of the party chaired by PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif. Mehdi maintained he hadn’t enjoyed any perk under NRO, adding that he is innocent. “I will prove my innocence in court. But I think it is not justified to continue working as adviser to CM morally,” he added.
