SC Orders Closure of Restaurant in F-9 Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, News Trends: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered removal of the restaurant from F-9 Park in Islamabad and directed the Capital Development Authority to take possession of the restaurant at the park.

30a3478f6camabad.jpg SC Orders Closure of Restaurant in F 9 IslamabadA three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, was hearing the Contempt of Court against the CDA Chairman for not implementing the court judgment in the F-9 Park case.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry     during the hearing said that when the lease of the restaurant has been cancelled that how it is still running in the park.

The hearing of the case adjourned for indefinite period.

Dhaka restaurant fire kills student girl

DHAKA: A student of Government Titumir College, located in Dhaka, was killed and five others sustained injuries as fire broke out at a Chinese restaurant in the city”s Gulshan area last night.

The deceased Rukhsana Akhter, 20, Honours (English) second-year student, sustained severe burn injuries when she and around 70 others were attending a birthday party at Deja Vu Café opposite to Azad mosque in the area.

The injured were admitted to United Hospital in Gulshan.

Abdur Rashid, deputy director of Fire Brigade, said upon information, they rushed to the spot and found the restaurant on the second floor of a three-storey building grappled in flames.

He said according to witnesses, sparks from illuminations originated the fire around 9:10pm.

“We managed to rescue the girl alive and sent her to United Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries,” Rashid added.

Fire fighters brought the fire under control around 10:10pm.

Four killed at North Hollywood restaurant shooting

LOS ANGELES: A lone gunman opened fire inside a Middle Eastern restaurant in the North Hollywood district of Los Angeles Saturday, killing four people and wounding another, police said.

The shooting took place around 4:40 pm (2340 GMT), said Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Rosario Herrera. The suspect, described by police as a white male in his 30s who was possibly Armenian, fled the scene and remained at large late Saturday.

Police had yet to determine a motive, but sources close to the investigation told the Los Angeles Times the incident may have involved Armenian gangs.

Three people were found dead at the restaurant and two others were taken to hospital, where one later died. The state of the survivor was unknown.

The victims were all men aged 20 to 25 years old.
