Gas supply to Industrial units of Faisalabad has been suspended for four days under gas load management plan, trendpk.com reported on Sunday.The suspension of gas has halted industrial production resulting thousands of daily wages employees lost their livelihood. Representatives of Industrial organizations said that the prime minister has promised to reduce the gas loadshedding period from four to two days but all the statements of the government has proved as rhetoric.

LONDON: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt withdrew on Wednesday allegations that the England team had engaged in match-fixing during the third one-day international at the Oval on Sept. 17.
The England and Wales Cricket Board had demanded an apology from Butt who said in a statement that he wished to withdraw the comments made in a television interview.
“I would like to make it quite clear that in the statements which I made that I never intended to question the behaviour and integrity of the England players nor the ECB nor to suggest that any of them were involved in any corrupt practices or in a conspiracy against Pakistan cricket,” Butt said. SHADADKOT: More than $800 million have been donated or pledged to help Pakistan’s flood victims, the foreign minister said on Sunday, as hundreds of thousands of people in the south feared more destruction.
Rising waters in Sindh province threatened to wreak havoc in U.S. ally Pakistan in a catastrophe that has made the government more unpopular and may help militants gain supporters.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed gratitude for the $815.58 million in international assistance to ease the suffering from one of the worst disasters in Pakistan’s history.

KARACHI: Pakistan athletics have been rocked by fresh charges of doping after eight top athletes failed tests at the National Championship held in Islamabad last month.
The Pakistan Athletics Federation confirmed that the athletes were also found guilty of using performance enhancing drugs and face a two-year ban if their appeals are rejected by the inquiry committee.
“The athletes have been informed about their failed tests and they will now appear on August 22 in Lahore before an inquiry committee set up jointly by the Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan anti-doping organisation,” national athletics federation secretary Khalid Mehmood said.
The tests were conducted during the national championship by the national anti-doping body under the guidance of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

SUKKUR: Pakistan’s worst floods in decades have left millions hungry, the United Nations said on Monday, while parts of the south were on high alert for rising waters that could further tax aid groups.
“We cannot talk about starvation yet but I think we can talk about millions of people being hungry,” Maurizio Giuliano, the UN humanitarian spokesman, told Reuters.
“I think we have millions of people who are hungry, and hunger is clearly a factor that contributes significantly to vulnerability.”
The flood has been spreading through the rice-growing belt in southern Sindh province district by district, breaking through or flowing over embankments.
Waters have been rising in southern Sindh and hundreds of thousands of people have fled cities, towns and villages for safer ground, disaster management officials said.

SIALKOT: Three high-level teams have launched separate inquiries into the brutal killing of two brothers in Sialkot.
Assigned by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice (retd.) Malik Nazim has recorded statements of 18 people in connection with the lynching of teenaged brothers.
Initially, he has recorded the statements of suspended DPO Waqar Ahmed Chohan, suspended SSSP Afzal Virk and Rescue 1122 men.
In addition, Addition IG Mushtaq Sukhaira has also launched his own probe into the incident.
On the other hand, Sialkot DPO Bilal Sadiq told SAMAA he has nabbed 16 accused, including the policemen.
He said the remaining accused would also be arrested soon. SAMAA
Some Elements Are Trying To Misguide Business Community: Farooq Saeed
Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan has said that if necessary the government would buy cotton from the farmers next year.
Rana Farooq said that the statements regarding the issues of yarn exports are ambiguous and some elements are trying to misguide business community in this regard. The minister informed that the government has issued quota for exporting 537 million kilograms of yarn but as much as 614 million kilograms of yarn would be exported. He expressed the resolve that all genuine problems of the textile sector would be solved on priority basis as government is serious in mitigating the sufferings of all stakeholders.
He said that the government is fully committed to facilitate the business community particularly textile industry so as to increase the exports of this sector. He Khan maintained that the government had to face multifarious problems like load-shedding, terrorism and extremism which jolted the country’s economy during the past two years.
