Waqar hopes better performance of players in WC
Pakistan Cricket Coach Waqar Younas said that players would have to work hard for New Zealand tour and there would be no affect on the performance of the team with the inclusion of any player.
Talking to media, Waqar hoped that the players will perform well in the upcoming wolrd cup 2011. He said that Afridi was right that Miandad can be more benificial for junior players. He said that Muhammad Yousaf was not included in the team due to injury problems.
Hockey team for CWG to be announced tomorrow
Playing 11 for the hockey team is scheduled to be announced tomorrow whereas Pakistans first batch of players would leave for Delhi on September 29.
Preparations of the Hockey Team are continued in National Hockey Stadium Lahore whereas the team would be announced tomorrow. According to sources, Zeeshan Ashraf, who got unfit during the Holland tour, has regained fitness and would lead the side in the upcoming mega event in Delhi.
On the other hand President Pakistan Olympic Association Arif Hassan told Dunya News that Security Liaison Officer Ahmed Mukarram is already in Delhi who until now has given a satisfactory report. After receiving his expected reports tomorrow, 61-member batch of players would leave for Delhi on September 29, 2010.

LONDON: Pakistan will play its second ODI match out of a five matches series in Headingley today (Sunday). Both teams have reached Leeds.
Pakistan team’s Captain Shahid Afridi has termed the defeat of the first match as sorrowful.
He has said that Pakistan lost by 24 runs owing to the irresponsible batting of the team.
Afridi added that after the spot fixing scam, Pakistan’s bowling has been weakened; taking advantage, England succeeded to make a big score.

PUL-E-ALAM: Protestors clashed with Afghan security forces on Saturday, as thousands of Afghans demonstrated for a second day, despite a U.S. pastor suspending plans to burn copies of the Koran, officials said.
The renewed protests in the war-torn country came after obscure Florida Pastor Terry Jones called off plans to burn copies of the Koran to mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States.
The plans triggered outrage in Afghanistan and across the Muslim world with President Barack Obama warning the action could deeply hurt the United States abroad and endanger the lives of U.S. troops.

The makers of the upcoming Tere Bin Laden starring the Pakistani Pop star Ali Zafar; have decided to drop the name Laden from the title of the film as a precautionary measure. Considering the kind of tensions surrounding Pakistan, the makers have given full freedom to the distributors to go ahead with the title Tere Bin in posters instead of Tere Bin Laden.
The title itself is more tongue-in-cheek remark on the Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Hoti vows to eliminate militants
PESHAWAR: NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti says that his government will continue its efforts till the elimination of last terrorist.
Addressing a gathering at the Scouts Cadet College here on Wednesday, he said the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and provincial police will not go waste.
“Days are not far when terrorists will be wiped out and durable peace will return to the province,” he said.
Hoti said that an unforgettable role played by the people of NWFP for the cause and survival of the country would be remembered by the generations to come.
The chief minister said that probe was underway about the bomb blasts happened outside the US consulate in Peshawar.
The investigation teams, he said, would soon reach a conclusion in this regard.
SC orders to file another case in Shershah Bridge collapse
KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Wednesday issued an order to register another case against the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other relevant contractors in Shershah bridge collapse case.
Hearing the suo motto case about bridge collapse, the chief justice severely reprimanded the police and inquired what progress was made during these many years in the case.
The CJP ordered that another case should be registered against the National Highway Authority (MHA) and concerned contractors.
In addition, the chief justice ordered the police to arrest the people involved in showing negligence.
Pakistan, China to adopt joint strategy at US nuclear summit
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani chaired a meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security to finalize a strategy ahead of Pakistan’s participation at the nuclear non-proliferation summit in Washington.
Director General Strategic Plans Division Khalid Qadwai and Islamabad ambassador to Beijing Masood Khan briefed the committee about the national security.
According to source, Masood told the committee that Pakistan and China would attend the conference with a joint strategy.
He said that China would support Pakistan demand that the United States also make a civilian nuclear deal with Pakistan like it had done with India.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid, Strategic Plans Division DG Khalid Qadwai, Defense Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Ishaq Dar, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Hyder Abbas Rizvi, Shahid Bugti and others.
