93d44b5d43eplil1 Farmers families in Vidarbha demand ban on Peepli LiveWhile Aamir Khan’s latest home production Peepli Live manages to draw in the crowds with each passing day, there seems to be a certain section of the audience who are not too happy with the film. Yes…we are talking about some farmers and their families in Vidarbha who are upset over the way the whole issue of farmer suicides has been portrayed in the film.

Few widows in the Vidarbha region, whose husbands had committed suicide, felt that the makers of Peepli Live have trivialised the issue by depicting that farmers commit suicide to claim compensation from the government. In fact they are demanding clarification from Aamir on this issue, if not, then a ban on the film. Effigies and posters of actor-producer Aamir Khan were also burnt in the region.

It’s sad but true that yet another Aamir Khan film finds itself amidst some controversy just days after its release.
