There is no denying the fact that post the release of Dabangg, Salman mania is at an all time high. Everyone wants to have a piece of the macho actor and this could well be the perfect opportunity for fans to get up, close and personal with their favourite star.

As a part of the celebrations of ‘The Joy of Giving Week’ (Sept 26- Oct 2), The Research Society, a charitable organisation, is conducting a charity auction, the highest bidder of which stands to win a work-out session at the Gym with Salman Khan himself. Salman is known to be closely associated with charitable causes and is also considered as the ‘Epitome of Fitness’ in India and hence this kind of auction makes perfect sense.

The highest bidder gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time with Salman at the gym, work out with macho actor, and get fitness tips and dos and don’ts for his future workouts. The Research Society will issue a letter, co signed by Salman Khan, which will be given to the winning bidder of this auction as a guarantee that the session will take place.

Bidding has already commenced and all those interested can place their bids on the eBay India website.

Anupam Kher to feature in Pankaj Kapoor’s Mausam

Anupam Kher will be seen yet again with Shahid Kapoor in Mausam. Kher has been asked to join the unit in Edinburgh.

The busy actor says, “I’m yet to get a clear indication of my role. But the fact that Pankaj is directing is enough incentive for me. I’m very fond of him as an actor and as a human being. And I also like his son Shahid a lot. In fact in his brief career, I’ve played Shahid’s father thrice (in Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivah, Dil Bole Hadippa and Badmaash Company).”

This time, though, Anupam isn’t playing Shahid’s father. It is apparently the role that Pankaj Kapoor had earmarked for himself. Now with direction proving a full-time occupation, Pankaj would much rather concentrate on direction and let the others do the acting.

However, the dates for Mausam are still being worked out. Anupam now flies out to the Lake District in England for a walk-on talkathon on the BBC’s prestigious business talk show Peschartdt’s People. The internationally-known host Michael Peschardt is known to grill the world’s most authoritative entertainers and academicians including, from India, N. Narayana Murthy, Vijay Mallya and Amitabh Bachchan.

Says Anupam, “I like representing our country on international platforms. Especially on a non-film based platform. I think I’ve moved ahead of being just an actor.”

Considering the response to it, does Anupam feel a sense of relief for opting out of Gurinder Chadha’s It’s A Wonderful Afterlife when his wife was offered what he thought was an insubstantial role?

Retorts Anupam, “Not at all. Gurinder gave me my first major international break in Bend It Like Beckham. How can I forget that? Our relationship goes far beyond one film. I’m sure we’ll be working together again shortly.”

Cricket and Bollywood are soon going to be shaking hands again, this time for another cause but only with a sense of festivity. The venue being Sri Lanka, the twenty 20 charity match between Bollywood and the Sri Lankan cricketers will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on June 4. Organised by IIFA, this one would surely get the crowds soaring in.

To add to the delight, IIFA’s Bollywood stars’ cricket team is said to be captained by none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself, while Kumar Sangakkara will captain the Sri Lankan cricket team. The festivity would be added by the local and Indian singers who would be performing there and the fans would have an opportunity the rub shoulders with their favourite stars. Add to that, the fact that the match isn’t extremely serious, the general rules remain except that the Bollywood team gets to have eleven players in a rotating manner so that every player gets a chance to perform.

Sri Lanka Cricket along with the Sri Lanka Tourism are pleased to organise this match as the proceeds of this event go to Habitat and UNICEF.

South Africa resumed on 262 for four, with Kallis on 112 and JP Duminy on 38, and endured a troubled morning as both overnight batsmen were dismissed after adding 124 runs for the fifth wicket.

Kallis edged Jimmy Anderson to Paul Collingwood at second slip and Duminy edged off-spinner Graeme Swann to the same fielder to give Collingwood his fourth catch of the innings and a share of the England record.

Duminy was, however, able to go to his third Test half-century before falling for 56.

Mark Boucher survived some stormy moments to reach 29 not out at the break, Graham Onions` weak effort to catch a top-edged hook off Stuart Broad giving the South African wicketkeeper a reprieve on 25.

Morne Morkel was on eight not out, making it to the sanctuary of the changing room two balls after calling for an umpire decision review which overturned Swann`s successful lbw appeal against him.

Swann looked dangerous, occasionally obtaining sharp turn, and had picked up three wickets for 65 runs in 30 overs.

Malaysia vs Vietnam

147a160a74ietnam Malaysia vs VietnamMalaysia vs Vietnam, Probably for the first time ever, I am proud of our football team. Trust me, I’ve watched LOADS of local football – club and country alike. The game vs host nation Laos was fantastic with 3 very well executed goals – I thought the teams looked slightly fatigued in the final, but the tactic by Rajagopal was correct – we counter attacked in the first, and went all out in the second. I loved how the boys held on and never gave up or buckled under pressure, that is usually the case with Malaysians when it comes to their favourite sport, ie football and badminton – they were tough, and they won, and they deserved it, ending our 20 year gold drought. Me alongside millions of others are surely elated, and I hope this is a sign of good things to come – I just hope that they don’t think this is enough, that there is more to work on and we can be better
