ISLAMABAD: An 11-year-old Saudi girl has become one of the latest victim of swine flu after health officials announced a further three deaths in the kingdom.
A total number of 14 people have died from the H1N1 virus in Saudi Arabia to date, the Ministry of Health confirmed, a private news channel reported.
The child was diagnosed with swine flu and died, meanwhile on the same day a 28-year-old Saudi woman also died from the virus.

PAKISTAN, ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has demanded transfer of drone technology to Pakistan.
In a meeting with US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke on Monday the prime minister said that the drone strikes affecting Pakistan’s efforts in the war against terrorism.
The visiting envoy discussed the bilateral cooperation on war on terror, repatriation and rehabilitation of displaced persons of Malakand division and US aid and assistance for the development of various sectors of Pakistan.
The issue of US drone attacks was also came under discussion in the meeting, it was reported.

PAKISTAN, LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q has scrapped membership of its senior vice president Humayun Akhtar Khan for his involvement in what is described as activities clashing with party policies.
Central Secretary Information of PML-Q, Senator Kamil Ali Agha said the action was taken againt Humayun Akhtar Khan for engaging in activities opposing party policies.
Humayun Akhtar Khan had formed a like-minded group of dissidents during PML-Q elections.

Owais Ahmed Ghani Expressed Grief Over Flood Damages
PAKISTAN, PESHAWAR: NWFP Governor, Owais Ahmed Ghani has expressed deep shock and grief over the loss of precious lives and materials because of torrential rains and floods in Peshawar Valley especially in Mardan and Swabi districts.
In a condolence message issued here on Monday, the governor said that natural calamities are beyond the reach of anyone. However, he added, the government departments and institutions are trying their best to minimize the losses and extend maximum possible help to the affected people.
Expressing his deep sympathies with the affected people, the governor has prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and for grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable losses with patience. He has also wished early recovery of the injured.
