826f47b94173 Andre Rand A MurdererCropsey Documentary was directed by Joshua Zeman and Barbara Brancaccio. The documentary was based upon real life crime stories. It showcased a number of crime stories that were performed in the alleys of our own city.

The most dreadful was the one that starred Andre Rand. Andre was blamed for murdering a 12 year old girl in the year 1987. The girl’s name was Jennifer Schweiger. One day Jennifer went missing. Her body was found a few days later. Jennifer went missing from Staten Island.

Her dead body was found buried in the woods. The woods where her body was found had been abandoned long time ago. The woods belonged to a mental institution. The reason due to which Andre was suspected was the fact that the girl’s dead body was found near his campsite.

Andre was a worker at the mental institution. Andre was considered to be a serial kidnapper. It was believed that he was responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a number of women and children. His activities had kept the people of the Staten Island under continuous terror.

Everyone feared the brutal murderer. The people were relieved when finally the police officials found the person who was responsible for all the fear. Andre was sent to jail for his hideous crimes. Andre is one of the many examples of the people who ruin our lives while staying amongst us.We must keep our eyes and ears open so that we can inform our officials about any odd activities going around us.

The London INDIAN Film Festival launches begins on July 15

By devansh patel

The London Indian Film Festival launches from July 15- 20 in London with a range of cutting-edge movies from some of India’s hottest independent talents, we aren’t talking Bollywood here, but films that challenge, make you think and show a more realistic view of India today in all its colour and diversity.

The Festival’s selection of films are screened across London, opening in the city centre at Cineworld (Haymarket), then Barbican, Nehru Centre, Watermans and Genesis cinemas. The Festival covers a wide range of themes from family dramas, coming-of age tales to twisted urban romance. What pervades many of these movies is a new more assured Indian cool, experimenting with cinematic styles, new technology and influenced by themes both East and West, which has helped them win favour with the young in-crowd in super cities like Mumbai.

The London Indian Film Festival opens at Cineworld (Haymarket) on July 15 with the UK premiere of the challenging Love, Sex Aur Dhokha, (Love, Sex and Betrayal) , by director, Dibakar Banerjee. Through three intertwined tales, this controversial film explores sexuality, voyeurism, love and betrayal in modern India. The film has un-known actors, but it’s radical revision -challenging the romantic Indian fairy-tale romance was a big box office hit when it was released in India in March. Of course being an Opening Night expect some VIPs to turn up!

Other highlights in this festival include the high-impact City of Gold, by the maverick director, Mahesh Manjrekar, on the forgotten history of mill workers of Mumbai, whose livelihoods were crushed when the mills were converted into the glitzy shopping malls and five star hotels. Meanwhile, Last Chance Mumbai is a sophisticated multi-strand ensemble exploring the connective lives of the city’s inhabitants over a 24 hour period by acclaimed director, Saeed Akhtar Mirza.

Road To Sangam directed by Amit Rai, explores ideas of Nation India and sometimes conflicting religious identity. It tells the story of one Muslim man’s desire to help take Mahatma Gandhi’s remaining ashes to the holy river and explores how many Muslims in India seem themselves 60 years after independence. The closing movie is the UK premiere Vihir (The Well) by award winning director Umesh Kulkarni (world premiered at Berlin), which is stunningly filmed amongst the grandeur of the rolling Indian plains of two adolescent friends who inspire each other’s journey to manhood.

London INDIAN film Festival partners from across the industry are supporting the Festival. The Satyajit Foundation’s Ray Short Film Competition has joined the Festival with the winning filmmaker receiving a £1,000 Award on 20 July at Cineworld, Haymarket. More guests are expected to be confirmed nearer the time.

JOHANNESBURG — No one was killed. Most of the injuries were minor. Yet a stampede at a supposedly low-key warm-up match set off alarms for World Cup organizers as they reassessed their plans for keeping fervent sellout crowds under control.

Hopes for a safe tournament remain high, officials said Monday. But the scary incident at a Nigeria-North Korea exhibition match was a stark reminder of past stadium disasters, in Africa and elsewhere, that have been one of soccer’s recurring and deadly legacies.

“This is like an alarm clock,” FIFA president Sepp Blatter said. “This will not happen in any match of the World Cup — you can be assured.”

FIFA stressed that it played no role in arranging Sunday’s match at a small stadium in Tembisa, a black township near Johannesburg. Crowds seeking some of the 10,000 free tickets on offer twice charged the gates; a policeman was seriously hurt and 15 fans also were injured.

“Please be sure that the level of organization we have at the World Cup is definitely higher than the one we have seen there,” FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke said. “We have to make sure that the police working around the World Cup stadiums will do better than what we have seen yesterday.”

One big difference between Sunday’s match and the World Cup games: Tickets for the tournament have been sold in advance, and non-ticketholders likely will be blocked from getting anywhere near the entry gates of the stadiums. Most — but not all — of the World Cup games are sellouts.

Traffic jams are likely en route to the venues, especially if South African fans live up to their penchant for just-before-kickoff arrivals, but FIFA believes its logistical plans — including large numbers of entry gates — will minimize crushes at the stadiums themselves.

Valcke said the problems in Tembisa reflected a failure to employ FIFA’s ticketing policies.

“It proves we are right to say that you should never distribute tickets at the stadium on a match day,” he said. “We will keep this principle during the World Cup.”
