Pakistan suffered most by terrorism post 9/11: Malik

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Thursday that Pakistan has suffered more than any other country in the world by terrorism and over 93% of terrorism incidents took place near the Pak-Afghan border.
The Federal Interior Minister addressed an international seminar in Islamabad today and said while talking to journalists that Pakistan has suffered the most after the 9/11 attacks in New York, “We need to adopt a combined strategy against terrorists.”
Malik added that Taliban, Al Qaeda and other such organizations have made an alliance to achieve their goals by terrorizing people, but the war on terror will continue till the end of terrorism.
He added further that Pakistan needs practical and moral support of the global community to overcome this menace of the terrorism.

DHAKA: India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have joined hands with the aim of putting on a memorable World Cup as cricket’s showpiece event is played in South Asia for the third time.
A hundred days ahead of the February 17 opening ceremony in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, the International Cricket Council gave a thumbs-up to the work done by the three host nations.
“I am confident we will get a good tournament,” ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat told AFP. “Preparations have been going on well and there has been good co-operation between the three host nations.

Landslides kill 37 in China

BEIJING: Four landslides triggered by heavy rains in China have left 37 people dead and nearly 40 others missing, an official and state media said Wednesday, as authorities brace for possible flooding.
The landslides swept through villages in the southwestern provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan and in the central province of Hunan earlier this week.
In a small township in Yunnan”s Qiaojia county the, worst-hit, 13 people died, 32 were still missing and 43 were injured, a spokesman for the local government, who declined to be named, told media.
The local newspaper said two other landslides in neighbouring Sichuan province left 14 people dead, and one person was still unaccounted for. In Hunan, 10 people were killed and five others remained missing in two separate landslides.
According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, torrential rains and flooding have left 107 dead and 59 missing in China since the beginning of July, but it was unclear whether the landslide victims were part of that toll.
India once again blames ISI for Mumbai attacks

NEW DELHI: The Indian government has said it has fresh evidence based on the interrogation of 26/11 accused David Headley to show that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Lashkar-e-Toiba’s Hafiz Saeed played a “much more significant” role in planning and executing the terrorist attack on Mumbai than was earlier known.
In the first official statement on the interrogation of Headley, Indian Home Secretary G K Pillai said it was now clear that both the ISI and Saeed were involved in the Mumbai attacks from the beginning till the end. Headley made several visits to India and is accused of scouting targets for the attacks.
