Happy towel day
Towel Day is celebrated every May 25 as a tribute by fans of the late author Douglas Adams. On this day, fans carry a towel with them to demonstrate their love for the books and the author. The commemoration was first held in 2001, two weeks after Adams’ death on May 11, 2001.[2] The towel is a reference to Adams’s popular science fiction comedy series The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Towel Day in honour of the late, great Douglas Adams. I remember listening to the original radio series way back in the day, having the novel when it first came out, even the vinyl album adaptation of the series the original cast recorded (in the days before audio books from the Beeb were common), then came the TV series (and those wonderful animations for the Guide segments). 
I loved it; it was like science fiction met the Goons, especially the radio version. There was nothign else like it. How lovely that so many years after it and several years since we lost Douglas people still want to celebrate the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Lest we forget the so long and thanks for all the fish bit in the TV series did have a radiophonic workshop rendition of a dolphin whistling the Star Spangled Banner so if this was Douglas’s vision to get the film off to a start it was his move into another genre. At least he didn’t, at least not when he died, have the idea of Hitch Hiker’s Guide:

Trinidad elects 1st female prime minister
Trinidad and Tobago has elected its first female prime minister in an early election, ousting an incumbent hurt by soaring crime and allegations of public corruption.
Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her five-party People’s Partnership coalition won 29 of 41 seats in the Caribbean nation’s parliament, according to preliminary election results Tuesday.
The 59-year-old attorney told thousands of supporters at a celebration early Tuesday morning that her government will not allow one ethnic group or social class to dominate the twin-island country.
It now appears that opposition leader General Kamla Persad-Bissessar will become the Caribbean nation’s first woman prime minister after her coalition won national elections yesterday. Prime Minister Patrick Manning has conceded defeat after his People’s National Movement lost 14 of its 26 seats in Parliament.
Former Attorney General Persad-Bissessar’s People’s Partnership coalition won 29 seats with her United National Congress party taking 21 seats themselves, giving the UNC a simple majority in the 41-seat Parliament.
She identified the ’drain on our resources presently occurring through corruption, incompetence and political vanity’ as the number one priority for attention should the UNC get into government.
Voters in Trinidad and Tobago are voting in snap elections which could bring the energy-rich Caribbean nation its first female prime minister. Incumbent Patrick Manning called the election — which follows the dissolution of parliament in April — a risky gamble in the middle of his five-year term. The opposition, led by Attorney General Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the head of a five-party coalition, led opinion polls ahead of the vote.Duration: 01:13

According to McNeil Consumer Healthcare, the recall was not issued because of medical hazards or concerns. They have said such events are remotely a possibility, but still recommend users to discontinue the use of these products.

FIFA dress code bars Iran girls from Youth Games
ZURICH: Iran”s girls” soccer team was thrown out of the Youth Olympics because FIFA rules prevent players from wearing an Islamic headscarf.
Thailand replaces Iran in the August tournament, the governing body of Asian soccer said on its Web site Monday.
The hijab scarf — worn by girls and women to observe Islamic dress code — was not allowed under FIFA rules relating to on-field equipment, the Asian Football Confederation said. Iran”s national Olympic committee had urged soccer”s international ruling body and the International Olympic Committee to review the ban.
FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke rejected the Iranian Olympic panel”s request in a letter to the national soccer federation. He said the FIFA executive committee had “no choice but to take the decision.”
FIFA maintains that soccer”s international rulebook contains a section on player equipment, stating that “basic compulsory equipment must not have any political, religious or personal statements.”
The hijab issue was first examined in 2007 after an 11-year-old girl in Canada was prevented from wearing one for safety reasons.
FIFA”s rules-making arm, the International Football Association Board, declined to make an exception for religious clothing.
Iran was to have taken part in a six-nation tournament for girls at the inaugural competition in Singapore on Aug. 12-25. About 3,600 athletes, ages 14 to 18, will compete in 26 sports.
Thailand will represent Asia against Turkey, Equatorial Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile and Papua New Guinea.
