Long history of PML-Ns revenge tactics against media
There is a long history of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-L) revenge tactics against print and electronic media.
Sanctins, arrests and registration of cases against mediamen is trademark of PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
State machinery, including Income Tax Department, FIA, Police and National Accountability Bureau, was used to suppress the voice of a newspaper when PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif was prime minister. But all these revenge tactics failed.
A renowned journalist was also abducted from his house during Nawaz Sharif tenure as PM but once again he failed in his bid against freedom of the press.
PML moved a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against journalists when Shahbaz Sharif was chief minister. The journalist community across the country condemned this resolution and staged countrywide protests forcing PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to take back this resolution.
The revenge tactics of Punjab government under PML-N continues and this time they have targeted News Trends but they will fail again in their nefarious designs.
Woods hits 6-under to share lead in Abu Dhabi
Tiger Woods took a share of the lead at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship on Saturday by “staying away from trouble” with a 6-under 66.
“It just seemed like I didn t do a lot of things right but I didn t do a lot of things wrong today, it was just very consistent,”
Woods said. “You know, made a couple putts here and there … I stayed away from trouble and tried to keep the ball towards the fat side of some of these pins and I think I did a pretty good job.”
The 14-time major winner finished at 11-under and a three-day total of 205. Woods is tied with newcomer Robert Rock, who birdied his final two holes to earn the 117th-ranked Englishman a first-ever pairing with the American on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy (68), Peter Hanson (64), Francesco Molinari (66) and Peter Lawrie (68) share third at 9-under. Four more players, including overnight leader Thorbjorn Olesen (71) of Denmark, are a shot further back.
Woods, who was two shots back after the second round, started climbing up the leaderboard Saturday with an opening birdie, followed by another on No. 7. He stepped up his game on the back nine, running off four birdies in a bogey-free round that was memorable not for stunning shots but Woods ability to sink clutch putts and keep his ball in play.
The former top-ranked golfer grabbed a share of the lead after he just missed eagle putt on 10 and settled for a birdie. He briefly took the outright lead with a birdie on 14 and rolled in a six-footer for birdie on 18. The crowd roared with every birdie but Woods held off from his trademark fist pumping.
“There s too many guys up there right now. There s a ton of guys with a chance to win,” Woods said. “You know, we have not separated ourselves from the field. The field is very bunched. I need to go out there and put together a solid round of golf, and I can t go out there and shoot even par and expect to win. I ve got to go out there and go get it.”
Rock, who got his first European Tour win last year in Italy in a playoff with Sergio Garcia, admitted he was star-struck at the prospect of facing off against Woods, calling him “the best guy I ve ever seen play golf.”

Japan lose to Paraguay in shootout
PRETORIA: Japanese star Keisuke Honda led Japan”s attack but the Blue Samurai lost 5-3 to Paraguay on a penalty shootout in the World Cup last-16 match on Tuesday.
The CSKA Moscow midfielder, who scored two goals and set up another in the group stage, played as lone frontman for the fourth straight game with support from J-League forward Yoshito Okubo and Grenoble”s Daisuke Matsui.
As Paraguay controlled much of the first half, Honda was fouled in the 36th minute by Paulo Da Silva some 30 metres out but Gamba Osaka”s deadball wizard Yasuhito Endo shot the free kick wide.
Superb free-kicks by Honda and Endo powered Japan to a 3-1 group win over Denmark, sending the Blue Samurai into the World Cup second round for the first time on foreign soil.
Four minutes later, Honda attempted a shot on the break, trapping the ball in front of goal but shaving the left post without forcing Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar to make the save.
The stalemate continued after half-time despite Honda”s tireless runs up and down the pitch.
In the 71st minute, Honda fed a through pass to substitute forward Shinji Okazaki in the box. But the prolific Shimizu S-Pulse forward, who had scored against Denmark on a Honda cross, could only hit his effort into a Paraguay defender.
Honda received his first yellow card of his World Cup debut tournament in stoppage time for handling the ball in midfield before the game headed into extra-time at 0-0.
On 90 minutes, Honda took a 30-metre free kick with his trademark left foot but fired wide with Villar punching it further away.
The match thus stretched inexorably into the penalty shootout.
Yuichi Komano”s kick hit the bar as he went third for the Japanese.
And although Honda slotted in their fourth kick, Oscar Carodozo completed Paraguay”s clean sheet to give the South Americans a place in the last eight and deny Japan their own first appearance in the quarters.
