90 percent Afghans dont know about 9/11

Helmand is the province which has been hit hard by the war between US troops and insurgents.
When the pictures of 9/11 were shown to the youth, none of them knew about it.
When the same pictures were shown to some tribal leaders, they wondered and showed ignorance about the incident. They said Afghanistan even didn’t possess even donkeys, how could they attack US buildings.
They complained that US said it came to help us, but it destroyed the whole country. They hold US responsible for their plight. According to a survey 92 percent Afghans don’t know why the US invaded Afghanistan.
ANP demands new province in Balochistan
Addressing the party units of tribal areas in Peshawar, ANP’s provincial president Afrasiab Khattak said that tribal areas should be declared a province to include tribal people in the national stream.
He said that South Pakhtunkhwa Province should be formed for the people of Balochistan and party should initiate consultation over the issue.
He said that imposition of Political Parties Act and representation of the tribal people in the provincial assembly was dire need of time.
Khattak added that Pakhtuns are one nation and they should not be separated due to geographic barriers.

According to sources, there were around 5 blasts which were followed by gunshots. Later, smoke clouds and huge flames could be seen on the site.
Law enforcement agencies and rescue teams have rushed to the site. There are no reports of casualties yet. State of emergency has been declared in all the hospitals in Karachi.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is staging a sit-in in Karachi at Netty Jetty Bridge. A large number of PTI workers along with PTI Chief Imran Khan are participating in the sit-in against the US drone attacks in the tribal areas of Pakistan.

Gilani rules out talks with militants working on foreign agenda
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday reiterated his administration’s resolve to pursue the policy of 3Ds (dialogue, development, deterrence).
He pledged to hold talks with tribal who are ready to surrender their arms to the tribal agents of their respective areas.
“We are ready to hold talks with those who will voluntarily decommission to the tribal agents. We are ready to bring them into mainstream,” he said while speaking in the National Assembly.

Pakistan rejects US drone campaign growth

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said Saturday it would never allow any expansion in the campaign of drone strikes by the United States on its territory.
The Washington Post reported Friday that the US was seeking to expand the areas inside Pakistan where Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) unmanned aircraft — used for surveillance and to launch missile strikes — could operate.
“As for the reported suggestion by the US to carry out drone attacks beyond our tribal areas, Pakistan’s position is very clear — we would never allow this to happen,” foreign ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told AFP.
“The Americans should rather revisit their drone attack policy and stop carrying out strikes in our tribal areas.”

US seeks ‘expansion’ of drone operations in Pakistan

WASHINGTON: The United States is seeking to expand the areas inside Pakistan where Central Intelligence Agency drones can operate, according to The Washington Post.
Citing unnamed US and Pakistani officials, the newspaper said US officials were eyeing areas surrounding the Pakistani city of Quetta, where the Taliban leadership is believed to be hiding.
But the request also seeks to expand the boundaries for drone strikes in the tribal areas, the report said.

Peshawar: Police kill Bara hand grenade attacker

PESHAWAR: At least one policeman has been injured in a hand grenade attack in the historic Bara area. Police have also killed one attacker in the encounter.
According to sources, unknown motorcycle riding miscreants attacked Bara, which is in the outskirts of Peshawar adjacent to Khyber Agency, with a hand grenade .
Sources added that one policeman sustained injuries in the attack while police immediately rushed after them and managed to kill one attacker inside the tribal area. SAMAA
Three soldiers killed in South Waziristan
Militants attacked a Pakistani military convoy on Tuesday, killing three soldiers in the tribal badlands of Waziristan on the Afghan border, a security official said.
The attack took place in the Kalundar Keley area of South Waziristan, about 60 kilometres (37 miles) north of the district’s main town Wana.
Militants attacked a security force patrol on Tuesday in Kalundar Keley area, killing three troops and wounding two others, a senior security official in the area told.
The official said an earlier roadside bomb attack in the same area wounded two more soldiers. A second security official confirmed the deaths.
Drone strike kills 7 in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH: A suspected drone hit two militant compounds in North Waziristan tribal region on Sunday, killing at least seven people and injuring five others.
Unmanned US aircraft have significantly stepped up attacks on Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked operatives in the semi-autonomous region this month.
Sunday’s attack took place in Shawa village east of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, the tribal district that has been the focus of the covert drone campaign as a Taliban and Al-Qaeda stronghold.
A security official confirmed the attack and the death toll.
More than 1,100 people have been killed in over 130 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008, including a number of senior militants, according to a tally released by a foreign news agency. SAMAA
