ANP demands new province in Balochistan

Addressing the party units of tribal areas in Peshawar, ANP’s provincial president Afrasiab Khattak said that tribal areas should be declared a province to include tribal people in the national stream.

He said that South Pakhtunkhwa Province should be formed for the people of Balochistan and party should initiate consultation over the issue.

He said that imposition of Political Parties Act and representation of the tribal people in the provincial assembly was dire need of time.

Khattak added that Pakhtuns are one nation and they should not be separated due to geographic barriers.

PM announces Rs.1 billion for FATA Agencies

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has announced Rs.1 billion tp provide gas to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and agencies, trendpk.Com reported on Thursday.

A delegation comprising FATA MNAs called on the prime minister today. Speaking during the meeting Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani assured the FATA legislators that the on going development projects in FATA would be completed soon and that he would direct the federal interior minister Rehman Malik to provide the facility of NADRA cards and machine readable passports in the area. The prime minister said that conciliatory politics would be practiced in the country.

The correspondence sheds light on the Pakistan Armys policies in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). According to the released documents, General Kayani has learnt from the mistakes made by former military ruler Pervez Musharraf. He is using the parliament and the government while staying in the background, the documents allege. In this way, he is becoming an obstacle to any major change in the countrys policy pertaining to Fata. Zerininis correspondence also stated that the West has lost the opportunity to crush the Afghan Taliban with Pakistans help. The correspondence stated that with aid coming in from the Gulf States, the Haqqani network has grown too strong, that defeating it will not be easy for the Pakistani military.

Eid-ul-Azha celebrated in scattered parts of country

Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated in scattered parts of the country including some tribal areas, News Trends reported on Tuesday. Afghan refugees in KhyberPakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan are also celebrating Eid-ul-Azha today.

Thousands of Afghan refugees offered the Eid prayers and embraced eachother in Shamshato camp Peshawar. Afghan refugees in Hayatabad and Afghan colony are also celebrating the Eid today with Saudi Arabia. The refugees also sacrificed animals after offering the Eid prayers.

One suicide bomber identified: Rehman Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday told the National Assembly that one of the bombers, who attacked the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine on Thursday, has been identified.
The bomber is from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and is a member of the Mehsud tribe, Malik said. The recent blasts can be traced back to Waziristan, the minister said. The minister vowed to give a befitting response in case of violation of Pakistani air or ground space. He said that the government has registered its protest at every forum and a joint investigation by Pakistan Army and Nato is underway to ascertain the causes of the incursions inside Pakistan.

Abducted Briton freed in Pakistan – High Commission

ISLAMABAD: A British-Pakistani journalist abducted by suspected Islamist militants in Pakistan’s ethnic Pashtun tribal areas in March, has been freed, the British High Commission said on Thursday.

“Yes, we can confirm that Asad Qureshi has been released,” a spokesman for the High Commission said.

Qureshi was abducted in March along with two former Pakistani intelligence officers. AGENCIES

Bin Laden hiding in Pak tribal areas: CIA

WASHINGTON: CIA Director Leon Panetta has claimed that al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden is hiding in tribal areas of Pakistan, asserting that the militant group is probably at its weakest point since 9/11 because of US-led strikes, with only 60-100 militants left inside Afghanistan.

LPG prices increase by Rs3 per kg

LAHORE: The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased by Rs 3 per kilogram on Thursday, LPG distribution association announced Thursday.

This was the second time increase in a week.

According to the association, the price of domestic cylinder has been increased by Rs 30 while the rise in commercial cylinder price was Rs 120.

In Lahore, per kilogramme price stands between Rs 78-81, in Karachi Rs 75-78, in Peshawar, Gilgit, Fata, Murree and Islamabad Rs 82-85.

The price was last increased on June 4.
