US Drone Strikes kill 8 in North Waziristan

MIRAN SHAH, trendpk: At least eight persons were killed and several injured in strikes by pilotless US spyplanes in tehsil Mir Ali of North Waziristan tribal region on Tuesday.
The drones fired missiles at two houses in Ghulam Khan area of Mir Ali killing eight persons and injuring several others, sources said. The injured have been shifted to hospital.
The sources fear increase in death toll in drone strikes.
The region was also targeted yesterday in which 21 persons were killed.
4 killed in US drone attack in North Waziristan
At least four people were killed and another was injured in US drone strikes launched Wednesday evening in North Waziristan.
According to sources, two US drones fired four missiles at two vehicles in the Qutab Khel area of North Waziristan, a tribal region in northwest Pakistan, which is believed to be a stronghold of militants.
Details about the identity of the killed in the strike are not immediately available. Todays strike is the second of its kind since November. On Nov. 1, the US drones fired four missiles in North Waziristan, killing at least six people.

MOHMAND AGENCY: Taliban militants blew up a boys’ school in Mohmand Agency tribal region on Tuesday.
The number of schools bombed by militants in lawless tribal areas over the last two years rose to 58.
According to reports, militants detonated explosives planed around the Government Model Boys School located in Safi teshil of Upper Mohmand Agency.
A Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman later claimed responsibility for the attack. SAMAA
North Waziristan: Drone strike claims three
Some three suspected militants have been killed in a drone strike in the North Waziristan tribal region, Dunya News reported on Friday.
The missiles were fired in two drone attacks in the Mir Ali district of North Waziristan. Two missiles were fired at Machi Khel village in the district that is considered the biggest fortress of Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan. Senior security officials said the target was a vehicle but two local intelligence officials said the target was a house in the village. Local security officials said the missiles destroyed a house and put the death toll at five.

WANA: A drone strike killed four militants in South Waziristan tribal region on Tuesday.
Unmanned US aircraft have significantly stepped up attacks on Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked operatives in the semi-autonomous region this month, recording at least 21 attacks in September.
Tuesday’s strike took place in Zeba village close to the Afghan border and west of Wana, the main town in South Waziristan.

Khyber: Security forces held 25 suspects, seized explosives
Security forces nabbed around 25 suspected terrorists including some foreigners and seized suicide vests and explosive material from their possession in a search operation in Khyber tribal region on Wednesday.
The troops in a raid in Bara Shalobar area of Khyber Agency arrested 25 suspects including Afghan nationals and transferred them to an undisclosed place for interrogation. The forces captured 20 explosives laden vehicles along with suicide vests and munitions. Earlier, five troops were injured when a remote control bomb hit a security forces convoy in Bara tehsil of the Khyber tribal region. According to sources, the convoy was heading to an FC camp when it came under attack. The injured troops had been shifted to the CMH Hospital Peshawar. Security forces had cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the wake of the attack.

Strong 7.4 quake hits New Zealand near Christchurch

WASHINGTON: A strong earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hit New Zealand, just 4 miles (7 km) southeast of Christchurch, in the middle of the night local time, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.
There were no immediate tsunami warnings. USGS earlier said the quake measured 7.3 magnitude.
The center of the quake was 41 miles (66 km) deep and it struck at 1635 GMT.

MIRANSHAH: At least nine militants were killed and several others wounded in missile attacks in North Waziristan tribal region on Friday.
Sources said that three missiles were fired at the house of Gul Adam in Matches Factory area of Datakhel, killing nine suspected terrorists and injuring several others.
The targeted house was completely destroyed.
One of the major commanders of Taliban, Inayatullah, has been reportedly killed in the attack.
