South African police check WCup bomb threat

JOHANNESBURG: South Africa’s police minister says reports of a terrorist threat to the World Cup can’t be ignored, but “hold no water.”

Nathi Mthethwa released a statement late Friday, after an online magazine wrote about “how beautiful” it would be if a bomb exploded at the U.S.-England match in Rustenburg.

The comments appeared to come from a contributor to a militant e-magazine called “Yearners for Paradise,” not the usual sites used by al-Qaida and other linked groups. In the article, the author says he is not a spokesman for al-Qaida.

Police minister Mthethwa says: “Recent media reports suggesting such threats exist hold no water.” He said every threat was checked: “We simply cannot ignore them.”

This time, the event will be held in Australia that’s why the official schedule is on February 21, 2010 and the main event will start at exactly 2:00 PM, Australian Time Zone.

UFC 110 Weigh in Video, The official weigh-in event for UFC 110: “Nogueira vs. Velasquez” has concluded from inside the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

All 18 fighters set to compete on the card tipped the scales without incident and without many fireworks.

The most heated staredown on the stage took place between co main event participants, Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping. UFC President had to separate the pair as a verbal exchange appeared to be heading toward an early round one start.

That middleweight showdown is going to be dynamite tomorrow night.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira looked fit for his heavyweight clash with Cain Velasquez, who came in a few pounds heavier than in recent past. Will it serve him well against the former champion or slow down the frenetic pace that he often likes to set?
