KARACHI: Shia Action Committee (SAC) and other Shia organizations have appealed for three days of mourning after the recent target killings in the metropolis, SAMAA learnt Tuesday.
SAC has demanded the arrest of culprits involved in terror incidents in Rizvia Society and Liquatabad.
Secretary General Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen Raja Nasir Abbas and President SAC, Mirza Yousuf, in a joint press conference with other ulema in Rizvia Imambargah, demanded to register a case against culprits involved in terror activities.
“Only those people are being targeted who want peace in the country,” said the ulema.
Ulemas of different thought have announced three days of mourning in lieu of Karachi’s violence. SAMAA

LAHORE: Former Punjab Governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar made a stunning disclosure that a group of military generals had made an offer to save Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto from getting hanged. However, Benazir Bhutto had rejected the offer at that time.
Speaking at Geo TV program âJawabdehâ, the former PPP leader said that a group of army generals had met Benazir Bhutto in Dubai, where they made the demand to rescue Bhutto.
Khar quoted the generals saying that they wanted to save Bhutto from getting hanged as it would give Pakistan Army a bad name.
The generals had a plan to shift Zufliqar Ali Bhutto from jail to Afghanistan by helicopter, he said, but added that Benazir Bhutto had turned down the offer.
Pakistan canât afford sectarian unrest, violence: Fazl
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Sunday that Pakistan could not afford sectarian tension and violence.
A group of prominent clerics led by Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Mahmud Ashrafi and Maulana Zahid Mahmud Qasmi called on JUI-F chief in the federal capital.
Rehman urged the Ulema to play their positive role to save the society from the menace of sectarian violence.
Following the meeting, the PUC Chairman told media that an attempt was made to first trigger Sunni-Shia riouts under a planned conspiracy. Now, he said, similar attempt was being made to start clashes among the followers of Deobandi and Brelvi schools of thought.
On this occasion, Maulana Qasmi said that every plot aimed at sparking sectarian unrest in the country would be foiled with unity.

Rehman Malik Has Convened A Meeting Of Wafaq-Ul-Madaris And Ulema From Different Schools
Interior Minister Rehman Malik has convened a meeting of Wafaq-ul-Madaris and Ulema from different schools of thought in the wake of Saturdayâs incident in which two persons were killed and many injured in an attack on a procession of Eid Milad-un Nabi in Faislabad.
Following the incident, the minister called Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman and Maulana Hafeez Jilandhari by telephone. He expressed the determination to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements out to sabotage law and order and sowing the seeds of hatred among different sects of Islam.
âThe attack on a peaceful demonstration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi seems to be a big conspiracy against both Barelvis and Deobandis and I am sure that the Ulema would united thwart the attempt of terroristsâ, he said.
He vowed to bring the culprits to task through taking immediate actions against them. He ordered police to take strict action with the help of intelligence agencies to avoid any similar attack in future. Rehman Malik also pledged to help affectees of the incident both financially and physically.

Mufti Muneeb with others suffer illness
Islamabad:- Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Liaquat Baloch and other Ulema had to be shifted to hospital due to sudden sickness after having breakfast during Ulema Conference in Islamabad, reported on Thursday.
An Ulema Mashaikh Conference was being held at Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideriâs residence in Islamabad and a joint statement against terrorism was expected to be issued during the conference. All the Ulema were served breakfast before the start of the conference and after some time, nine Ulema including Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, Maulana Haideri, Liaquat Baloch, Haji Hanif Tayyab and Mian Aslam felt unwell. They were immediately shifted to Poly Clinic Hospital and are in better condition now.
MQM Altaf Hussain demands trial of masterminds of suicide attacks
Karachi, Pakistan News :- A resolution has been passed declaring suicide attacks as âHaramâ and urging people to avoid offering prayers behind Ulema who support suicide attacks in the Ulema Mashaikh Conference organized by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday.
Addressing the Ulema Mashaikh Conference via telephone in Karachi, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain demanded the government to hold trials against those elements who teach and give training to suicide attackers. He urged all the Ulema of all sects to be united for promoting unity among Muslims. âGovernment should keep an eye on those elements who are involved in terrorism activities.â Altaf said enemies of Islam are conspiring to force Muslims to fight with each other during holy month of Muharram. He urged Muslims to foil these conspiracies by staying united.
