India Frees Pakistan Prisoner
Pakistan News: India has released a Pakistani prisoner and handed him over to Rangers today.
The released captive namely Amanat Ali, 45, has lost his sanity. Hailing from Amar Siddhu Bandhianwala Pul, Amanat crossed the border by default some three years ago.
He was subjected to sever torture first at the police checkpost and then at prison and usually kept him hungry.

Swat, Pakistan News: Polling is underway for by-polls in constituency NA-21 Mansehra 2, and constituency of Provincial Assembly PF-83 in Swat.

n constituency NA-21 Mansehra Tahir Ali candidate of Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Salahauddin of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Zargul of Pakistan Muslim League-Q are running for victory. The seat got vacant in the said seat after the demise of Muhammad Khan. In constituency PF-83 Swat 4 Rehmat Ali Khan (ANP), Jurat Khan (PML-Q), Hussain Kanju from Jamaat Islami, Sher Muhammad Khan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and independent candidate Muhammad Khan are in run.this seat fell vacant after killing of Dr Shamsher Khan in a suicide blast.
Eighty polling stations have been set up in the constituency and security has been tightened. Swat constituency has declared sensitive while the extraordinary security measures have been adopted for the purpose.

Polling Underway in Balcohistan By-polls
QUETTA, Pakistan News: The polling continues in by-polls on Balcohistan Assembly’s seat PB-1 Quetta-1, which was vacated after the murder of provincial education minister Shafiq Khan.
Shafiq Khan’s brother Tahir Mehmood of PPP is vying for the seat, while Mohammad Ali Shadezai is his rival.
Around 65,000 voters comprise the said constituency, however due to the intense weather, the turnout is likely to remain low.
The provincial government has stationed 328 people at 54 polling stations, while strict security arrangements have been made in this regard. The polling would continue till 5:00pm.

PM Gilani, Shahbaz Meeting Underway
LAHORE, Pakistan News: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif called on Monday Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani who reached here on a visit to provincial capital yesterday.
The two leaders reportedly discussed the overall political situation and developments in the wake of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s verdict against National Reconciliation Ordinance and resumption of corruption cases against various politicians.
They also discussed ways to end an ongoing cold-war between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party – two major coalition partners in Punjab government – and on the issues related to routine affairs of the provincial government.
Ways to increase cooperation between the two parties and an increase in provincial cabinet were also discussed, the channel added.

Operation Underway Against Militants In Wana

WANA: A major military operation against suspected militants is presently underway at and around main road between Wana and Jandola to wipe out the miscreants from the area.
Security forces have also demolished several houses supposedly belong to local militants in the ongoing drive being carried out in the area between two major towns of South Waziristan agency, it was reported.
Forces have also facing stiff resistance by the militants in few remote pocket areas, the channel said.

Crackdown Against IHK Hurriyet Leaders
SRINAGAR: Indian held Kashmir’s several Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Faruque have been arrested.
Kashmir media service said that several Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farugue, Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Yasmin Raja and Farida Bahenji have been detained in their houses for averting their address after the Friday prayers, which was scheduled at different places in the Indian held Kashmir and protests demonstrations were to be staged against the Indian elections.
Hurriyet conference declaring the elections under Indian laws a farce appealed to the people to keep themselves away from these elections. All Parties Hurrriyet Conference has completely boycotted the underway two-phase elections in IHK keeping its tradition of the past 20 years.
