e60b7b01c7echkin ovechkin — Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, and maybe even Montreal’s inability to score more goals in a dominant second period, drove Canadiens goalie Carey Price to a couple of piques of frustration.
Ovechkin scored his second goal of the game with 8:51 left, sending Washington to a 6-3 victory Wednesday night and a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference series.
Ovechkin opened the scoring at 8:10 of the first period with the Capitals’ first power-play goal of the series. Mike Knuble tied it at 2 with Washington’s second short-handed goal in two games with 6.3 seconds left in the second.
Boyd Gordon, who returned to the lineup to score a key short-handed goal in Game 3 after being a healthy scratch, set up Knuble on a 2-on-1 to draw the Capitals even despite being outshot 33-18 to that point.
“I think it was a pretty big goal,” Ovechkin said. “Again, we played great short-handed and Gordo, what can I say about him? 6fdde3ba8fechkin ovechkinHe’s a hard-working guy and when he makes a play like this it means a lot for our team.”
Ovechkin added his second of the game and fourth in three games when he cut past defenseman Hal Gill and put Washington up 3-2 with a shot past Price from the slot.
“When you give him time and he’s that close to the net he knows what to do,” Price said. “That’s why he scores 50 goals every year.”
Jason Chimera made it 4-2 52 seconds later.
The Capitals got empty-net goals from Knuble with 2:27 left and Nicklas Backstrom with 10.1 seconds remaining.
“One power-play goal and you’re up 3-1 in the series — it doesn’t usually work out like that,” Knuble said.
Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves to win his third in a row for Washington, which regained home-ice advantage in the quarterfinal series with a 5-1 victory in Game 3 on Monday night.
“He was great. He was fabulous tonight,” Knuble said. “He was the difference.”
Price stopped 32 shots in his first start of the series for Montreal. Price, who replaced Jaroslav Halak in the second period Monday, was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct following Chimera’s goal. The Canadiens goalie fired a puck toward the Capitals players celebrating along the boards on the right side, striking defenseman Jeff Schultz in the backside.
“It was frustration,” Price said. “It’s not a good move, but let ‘em know that you’re there. I didn’t mean to actually hit him but it’s over.”

Google’s GDrive System May Render Personal Computer History

8edac63b09google Google’s GDrive System May Render Personal Computer HistorySearch engine giant Google will soon come up with a system that may make the personal computer virtually redundant, predict technology experts.

The GDrive system will merge Google’’s all existing web-based services to make them easier to use together.

Industry reports suggest that the ”GDrive” would enable users to store almost all their data on the Internet, and access it from wherever they are.

“Throw your hard drive away, Google’’s Gdrive is arriving in 2009,” the Telegraph quoted TG Daily, an American technology news website, as predicting.

The GDrive would make it possible to access and update information like emails, photographs, music, documents and spreadsheets from any device with an Internet connection.

The novel system is being described as ”cloud computing”, wherein the web rather than the hard drive is used as the place where information is stored.

Google experts are said to have begun convincing the world of its benefits.

The fact that such services are usually free could undermine the Microsoft business model, which was originally based on the ability to sell software packages with new machines.

It is believed that the GDrive could “cause a major paradigm shift in how we use computers and bring Google one step closer to dethroning Windows on your desktop”.

However, there are some who think that trusting Google with so much personal or commercial data is dangerous, for information may not be as safe in the cloud as it is in a computer.

Peter Brown, of the Free Software Foundation charity, said: “Does it matter to you that someone can see everything on your computer? Does it matter that Google can be subpoenaed at any time to hand over all your data to the American government?”

A Google spokesman refused to confirm whether the GDrive launch was imminent.

“We don”t comment on speculation, and we don”t pre-announce product launches.

6879907d11ssiles Iran to Mass Produce Heat seeking MissilesTEHRAN: Iran to Mass Produce Heat-seeking Missiles, Iran is going to mass produce a new generation of domestically built air-to-air heat-seeking missiles which can track targets via their infrared emission.

Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi told IRNA on Saturday that having been successfully test-fired in different situations, the heat-seeking missiles are now going to be mass produced at the Defense Ministry.

This missile is fired towards the target by a plane and can track the object until it hits it, Shah-Safi said. It has a range of up to 100 kilometers, he added.

According to the top commander, the missile has been tested with a range of more than 40 kilometers, but its range could be modified to increase at higher altitudes.

Shah-Safi said Iran has also produced different kinds of air-to-air missiles, adding that radar-evading planes are being sample produced on a small scale as well.

To advance its defensive capabilities against any possible attack, Iran has so far launched different kinds of missiles.

In June, Iran inaugurated the production line of a domestically-made, supersonic ground-to-air missile system called ‘Shahin’.

The system, which has a range of more than 40 kilometers, is capable of targeting fighter jets and helicopters.

Earlier in May, Iran also successfully tested its new solid-fuel Sejjil 2 missile, which is designed to be more accurate and swift than previous Iranian-made models. It has a major deterrence power.
