Islamabad: terror plot foiled – 5 arrested

ISLAMABAD: Police, in the federal capital Islamabad, have claimed foiling a terrorism scheme after having arrested a terrorist and his five associates from a compound, TrendPK reported Saturday.
Meanwhile, a suicide bomber had been taken under arrest before his bid to explode himself in a mosque in Swat Valley could be put into practice.
According to details, a suspected man was rounded up from a restaurant in Islamabad. During investigations, he revealed about the whereabouts of his associates who had been holed up in a compound.
Subsequently, police raided the compartment, arresting his five aides.
They (terrorists) disclosed that Sardar Ali Khatak, working as a clerk in Finance Department, is on leave for two months in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to recruit a suicide bomber to target any big religious rally in Islamabad during the holy month of Ramadan.
Also, police recovered a suicide vest, a hand grenade, a pistol and high value foreign currency from their compound.
In another incident in Swat Valley, local people foiled an attempt of suicide attack on a mosque in tehsil Kabal and killed the bomber.

RSS Hooligans Attack Mirwaiz in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was attacked by the hoodlums of the Hindu communal organisation, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh in Chandigarh Thursday during a seminar on Kashmir and Pak-India relations.
According to the KMS news agency, the attackers barged onto the stage, where Mirwaiz had just started his speech and snatched mike before him. They subjected the APHC Chairman to physical assault.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has started a campaign to apprise the people of India about the gross human rights violations being committed by Indian troops across the Valley and need for resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reached Chandigarh to address the seminar as a part of the campaign. He was also likely to travel to Kolkata for attending another seminar.
It may be mentioned here that the hooligans of Hindu extremist organizations had earlier attacked veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, and senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah.
Curfew continues in several parts of Kashmir Valley
State administration on Friday imposed curfew and restrictions in several parts of the Valley even as life remained normal for second consecutive day elsewhere. At least fifteen people, including eight troopers and cops were injured in fresh clashes.
Meanwhile, women in Held Kashmir have started a signature movement against Indian brutality in the region. Dr. Attiya Inayatullah inaugurated the movement in Muzaffarabad. These signed documents would be sent to President Obama and Indian PM Manmohan Singh through Pakistani High Commissions. Obama would be appealed to play his role to force the Indian government to end manhandling of women in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called for an immediate end to violence in Indian occupied Kashmir, where more than a hundred protesters have been killed by Indian security forces in the recent days.
UN Secretary Generals spokesman, Martin Nesirky told media that the Secretary General has regretted over the loss of life and called for an immediate end to violence.
Indian occupied Kashmir has been rocked due to pro-freedom demonstrations. The government in New Delhi has reacted by imposing 24-hour curfew across the valley.

A Kashmiri youth died while dozens others got injured when Indian troops opened fire on a funeral procession in Indian-held valley on Sunday.
Meanwhile, three injured protesters also died in two separate hospitals after being injured on Saturday and last week in clashes with Indian security forces in three different districts of the valley, a police spokesman said. Government forces have been battling months of violent demonstrations in the mainly Muslim region that were ignited by the police killing of a 17-year-old student on June 11.
A total of 105 protesters and bystanders including children have been killed, mostly by security forces firing on demonstrators after being pelted with stones. One policeman has also died.

Neelum Valley receives season’s first snowfall

MUZAFFARABAD: Neelum Valley with all of fountains, springs and waterfalls lies north-south of Muzaffarabad, and has received its first snowfall of the season, SAMAA learnt Tuesday.
The valley received rain with lightning last night. Mild spells of snowfall started in the mountains which made the weather pleasant in upper parts of the valley.
Meanwhile, minimum temperature in most parts of the state fell due to rains and snow.
Snowfall and cold weather has made the problems of homeless flood victims worse as the entire 90 mile long Neelum Valley is the worst hit by flash floods. SAMAA
