Power outage triggers protest in Lahore

The total power generation of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has currently been recorded at 9,500 megawatt, while the demand has shot up to 15,500 megawatt, leaving a shortfall of 6,000 megawatt.

The duration of power outage in all major cities has been increased to 12 hours a day while in rural areas it has been increased to 18 hours.
Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) shut six grid stations in Lahore during the night between Sunday and Monday.

Various areas of the city suffered six to seven hours of power outage. People protested against the unscheduled load shedding of LESCO and chanted slogans against the authorities. The police was called to prevent an untoward incident.

The situation was no different in Karachi and in various areas of the city people spent the night with intermittent supply of power. According to the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, the power supply was suspended due to a technical fault.

KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has started unscheduled load shedding up to nine hours in different residential areas of the metropolis, Trend Pk reported Thursday.

Karachi: Three more killed in firing incidents

In various areas of Karachi, three people got killed and two injured due to firing.
In the area of Korangi Zaman Town, Karachi, some unidentified people killed a young man by firing whose dead body was then shifted to Jinnah Hospital. The second incident of firing took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13, where a 26 year old Imran was shot dead. Another person died due to firing in area of Choona Bhatti, Risala. A 13 year old Nazar-ul-Islam also got injured due to firing in the area of Docks; where as 15 year old Yousuf was also injured due to firing of unidentified people on Shah Wali Road.

Karachi: Case of Shershah incident filed against 17 people

A case has been registered against 17 people belonging to Liyari gang war including its leader Baba Ladla for Shershah incident in Karachi.
According to police, a case has been registered in Pak Colony police station for killing of 12 persons in Shershah. The case number 578/2010 in Pakistan penal court for acts 302, 386, 324 and anti terrorism act have been registered. The wanted criminals listed in the case belong to Liyari gang war among which is the gang leader Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla along with Hameed alias Mulla Rao, Ejaz, Lal Mohammad, Nawaz, Iqbal and 11 other criminals. While on the other side, despite of meetings of policitcal leaders, struggling for coalition and claims of eliminating terrorism, still the killings in Karachi have not been stopped. In various areas of city, 7 more people have been killed due to firing.

In various areas of Karachi, firing continued for the fifth consecutive day and count of killings is also enduring. In a fresh incident in Sohrab Goth, a person got killed due to firing of some unidentified gunmen.
According to Sohrab Goth police, some unidentified gunmen shot dead 30 year old Ahmad near the Indus Plaza. Police claims that his incident is an outcome of some personal enmity. Since yesterday morning, in various areas of Karachi including Korangi, Baldia Town, Malir, Azizabad, Quaidabad, Pak Colony and Jumma Goth, eleven more people have been killed by firing. Police record states that most of the killings which are 34, have taken place in West Zone of the city; where as 22 in South Zone and 24 in East Zone of the city. While on the other side, it is also being considered to carry out search operations and implement curfew in the affected areas where the situation is getting intense day by day. Secretary for Internal Affairs Sindh Mohammad Arif Khan told that in last two days, security agencies and law enforcement agencies carried out operations in which they managed to arrest 5 wanted criminals along with more than 200 people who had enormous weaponry with them.

Protest against expected Lyari operation

KARACHI: Thousands of people came out on the roads of Lyari chanting slogans against the expected operation in the area Wednesday.

Police and rangers have been deployed in various areas in Lyari, while rangers helicopters also took aerial views in the area in the evening.

Feeling the expected operation against criminals in the area, thousands people, including women and children, came from different areas of Lyari and held a demonstration against police and rangers.

While talking to SAMAA, the locals of Lyari said that their area is one of the peaceful areas of the city. They demanded that operation should be conducted in other areas of the city as well.

They also said that they are ready for a voluntary search operation in the area against criminals. SAMAA
