6.3-Magnitude Earthquake hits Pakistan

trendpk: A major earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit various parts of country including Islamabad, Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Two children were injured when panic prevailed in Mansehra.
According to Met Office, the earthquake jolted Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Kphat, Swat, Mardan, Malakand, Mansehra, Rawlakot, Jhehlum and Haripur at 7.45am. The epicenter of the earthquake is said to be in Tajikistan.
Earlier, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake jolted southwestern Pakistan on January 18 but caused minimal damage.
Sui-Karachi Gas Pipeline Blown up

KASHMORE, trendpk: Miscreants blew up gas pipeline supplying gas to the Punjab suspending distribution in various parts amid chill weather.
The 18-inch diameter pipeline was blown in Kashmore with explosives. The personnel of law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the entire area.
7.3 magnitude tremor felt: Pak Met office
KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological department said earthquake of severe 7.3 magnitude were felt in various parts of country after midnight.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammed Riaz said the tremor continued its shake for over one second, however, its span could vary from area to area depending on their proximity to epicenter.
Responding a question regarding aftershocks, Riaz said a massive quake is usually followed by aftershocks—minor and major—for at least one week.
He urged the panicked people who rushed out of their houses in Sindh areas including Karachi on feeling intense shakes, to go back to their houses.
The epicenter of the quake was 150 kilomter northwest of Kharan and 300 kilometers from Quetta, he stressed. TrendPK
US Drones Overflying North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH, trendpk: US Predator unmanned drones flew over various parts of North Waziristan tribal region. The locals in the region bordering Afghanistan seen more than 10 flights of drone over the region.
Meanwhile, the local administration has declared indefinite curfew from Miranshah Stadium checkpost to Miranshah Bazaar, Bypass Road, Khar Kamar, tehsil Dattakhel and other areas. Dattakhel road has been closed for all traffic, reports said.
Sugar price mounts by Rs. 5 per kg in Lahore

LAHORE: During last 24 hours, the price of sugar has mounted up by rupees 5 per kg in Lahore.
According to details, in various parts of Punjab including Lahore, the retail price of sugar has climbed to Rs. 96 to 98 per kg while in whole sale market it is being sold on Rs. 93 to 94 per kg.
This latest increase of Rs. 5 per kg, in sugar price, is considered to be a record of 24 hours’ price hike as yesterday sugar’s whole sale price was Rs. 86 and the retail price was Rs. 92 per kg. Trend Pk

Quetta faces petrol shortage, supply resumes in Lahore

QUETTA: Quetta continues to face acute shortage of petrol for the thirteen consecutive day, while supply has partially resumed in Lahore, said sources Tuesday.
According to sources, after construction work started at PARCO, petrol supply resumed in different cities of Punjab, including Lahore.
On the other hand, different areas of Balochistan, including Quetta still face petrol scarcity; daily life and business activities have virtually come to a halt in various parts of the province.
The government has not taken any steps to restore supplies to filling stations. Hundreds of petrol pumps are closed due to an acute shortage of petrol, posing problems for the people.
Iranian petrol is being sold at the exorbitant price of Rs. 120 per liter.

Floodwater enters Sujawal city

LAHORE: Qari Abdullah, who attacked the Jinnah Hospital, has surrendered, SAMAA learnt Thursday.
Four policemen were martyred in the hospital attack. He along with his aides attacked the hospital to save the terrorists under the treatment in Jinnah Hospital.
Qari Abdullah telephoned police and offered his self arresting.
Qari Abdullah has been arrested from Nawako. The law enforcement agencies have taken to Qari to unidentified location for investigation. SAMAA

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department on Monday has predicted rain with lightening in some parts of Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Kohat, Hazara Division and Kashmir during next 24 hours.
According to Met office, hot and dry weather expected in various parts of country. Some parts of Upper Punjab and Kashmir had received rain with lightening during last 24 hours.
